    Changing the needle bar

Success!!! Amy let me know that needle bars and bushings come as a matched set, so I needed to replace the bushings as well as the needle bar. Since that meant waiting until I could get some help taking my machine off the table, I decided to try Marti's suggestion of re- tapping the hole on my old needle bar. I went to 6-32 and got some hex set screws in that size. Thanks for the suggestion Marti, and thanks to Jim also for suggesting the hex screw, much easier to tighten. Timing was next - not sure why I was so worried! Well it was very hard to see, even with a magnifying glass, but apparen

  4. I am so thrilled I just shipped back this Sew Spooky Quilt to my client - it is the third I have worked on - but probably the one I have had the most fun with! Next I'm working on a modern Dear Jane for a quilting pal and author...I cannot wait to share! 11745902_1018180371528549_2809008673189477644_n by Valerie Smith, on Flickr 11745799_1018180628195190_2003377507643921416_n by Valerie Smith, on Flickr 11705345_1018180138195239_9138544337569700206_n by Valerie Smith, on Flickr 11209560_1018180458195207_4749325135880520849_n by Valerie Smith, on Flickr 1908120_101638342

  6. My customer, Sue, always makes pieced backs (sometimes as involved as the front). This time the Minnesota rectangle in the back lined up perfectly with the Minnesota rectangle in the front. Never, ever going to happen again!! Sue made this quilt for her BIL in a nursing home. She wanted an overall around the center panels with some detail stitching on them. Thanks for taking a peak!! Best of Show - Autumn Glory

Every two years this guild has a show in Cumberland, MD. I've entered in the previous two shows and won Best Machine Quilting, but I could only get a third place and honorable mention on my quilts, until this year. 8. So many things to check before you pack up your baby for a road trip, Battynurse. Are you bringing your bobbin thread to the top and making some securing stitches before you take off? Are you able to easily bring up the bobbin thread? Does it pull easily through the needle plate hole? Have you done a drop test or used a Towa gauge to test if the bobbin is too loose? Is the hook retaining finger properly positioned? It's that metal piece that is screwed to the underside of the base. It should be slotted in only far enough to stop the rotation of the bobbin assembl

    Changing the needle bar

Queenanne A tap is a device like a drill bit to either cut initial threads, clean up slightly damaged threads in a hole, or to cut new larger diameter threads in a stripped out hole. A die is used to cut or clean up the threads of a screw. Thus you buy a tap and die set to work with both the screw hole and the screw. Here is YouTube link to see a tap in action. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5QU_3qUigk You can clean up your threads on your APQS by taking a new needle bar screw, and screwing it into the hole on the opposite side you normally use. Gelato is quilted

This is the quilt I shared that I was quilting on. It is now finished. Waiting for her daughter to bring me the fabric so I can bind and finish the quilt for her family. I used Metro thread on the top and filtec bobbins on the bottom. The patterns are Odyessy sets 1 and 2 by Donna Kleinke. 20150714_160809 by Dell Dunman, on Flickr 20150714_160818 by Dell Dunman, on Flickr 20150714_160840 by Dell Dunman, on Flickr 20150714_160924 by Dell Dunman, on Flickr Thanks for looking.!
