Retirement is wonderful. I retired at 59.5 yrs and am now 71. Dh is 78. I love being home but it is 24/24 with DH. We have 2 cars. His is a 2008 and only has 11,000 on it. I love him to the moon and back but wish he still played golf or had something where he would be gone a few hours. I do get up early and he shows up between 9-10 am. So, I cook and make coffee on some mornings. I do enjoy my quiet hours before he gets up. I read, sew, quilt on my longarm. I really don't miss working but could use a few hours (after he gets up) all to myself. Anyone out there understand what I am2 points

I have two thoughts on this. First, you are worth your own time. I would not price anything, quilting or creating, for less than $20/hour, no matter what part of the country I live in. I am worth $20 per hour. I have taken more classes than I can count. I have spent money on supplies and tools that are not cheap. I have been trained and have the skill to do my job. Again, I am worth $20 per hour. Second, we are pricing ourselves out of business.....this is coming from the devil on my other shoulder. The cost of fabric, tools, knowledge, etc, costs a lot of money that most people, who1 point

The first lady to come up to me about making her a quilt came back up to me Sunday at church. She wanted to see pictures of some of my quilts I had made. So I pulled out my phone and was showing her some. She then asked if I had started on her quilt. I said, "What quilt? You haven't ordered one...you just asked me if I would make you one." She then said can you have it made by October 25 which is when she wanted to give it to her daughter. She then asked how much it would cost. I said, "Well, what size?" She said I don't know. I said, "what pattern do you want to use? Yep, you guess1 point

I am starting a list of places that offer discounts and happy hours so we can eat out cheaply. I gave up cooking for Lent one year and just never picked it up again! Diane1 point -

Need Ideas for Quilt
Neher-in-law5 reacted to Oma for a topic
Treat each row with it's own quilting design. It would really make the individual rows pop out. Very good quilt to practice different sashing ideas. An all over design would be easy and probably look nice, but this is a rather unique quilt so I would give it a unique treatment1 point -
Congrats and enjoy!!!. We moved to a ranch style last year for the same reasons. However, my studio is in the basement but it's finished with a full bath, TV, frig and microwave, never have to go upstairs (LOL).1 point

Bluecut fire
Wyonut2run reacted to WW Quilter for a topic
Thank you all for you thoughts and prayers! Fire is now 83% contained and we have been allowed back into our homes. No losses in our little village, but a nearby area lost 105 homes! I'm very thankful for the firefighters and law enforcement officers who put themselves in harms way to protect us! Lenni is put back together and I am ready to quilt again!1 point -

Can be believe I bought most of the red and white at Quilt Fest Jax about 12 years ago. Then found more fabric at my local quilt shop Lollipops and found the ruler and away I went. But it hung on the rod until last week to be quilted! I'm so happy. 100% wool on top of 80/20. Quilted with Quilt Path!!!!! Thanks for looking!!!1 point -

Posting from my phone so the pics will probably be turned. Took me a few days to decide on the border. Didn't want any more curves after all those feathers. SID around the stars and half squares.1 point -
Just a little free hand fun!
dramaqueenB reacted to JenniferBernard for a topic
Sometimes all a baby quilt needs is a little fast free hand. The balloon fabric inspired me to make up a new free hand. After a little practice on paper, I just did it! My client and I loved it. The other free hand of flowers, leaves, spirals, and feathers is a favorite free hand that I do a lot because it is just so pretty. .1 point -
Vintage Plate Quilt
dramaqueenB reacted to delld for a topic
This is a quilt Patsy pieced using the vintage plates that were hand pieced. She added the centers, and the borders. I used several different digital patterns and freehand to quilt this, using Magnifico thread top and bottom. It took forever. She picked it up this morning and was so happy! ! ! So was I!
