  1. I have a machine but just wanted to say how lovely that room is. Also, can you explain how you attached the rack/shelf to the legs? I really like that idea better than putting furniture of some sort under there. Sue
  2. I would guess you unscrew the textured screw all the way out so the hole is open. That hole is where you mount it on the machine shaft and then tighten that textured screw again to lock it into place. Unscrew the large wheel to insert the laser as shown on the package - then tighten that also. If you're still having trouble, email APQS directly using the contact us page on the main APQS website.
  3. My first question is Why?? The purpose of quilting the top/batting/backing together is to secure all of the layers together to prevent them them from shifting independently. If you use a permanent adhesive, who wants that much glue in the middle of their quilt? If you only use something temporary, the end result is a giant pillow cover, not a quilt. If it's a quilt that will be used & washed, this will make the quilt wear out more quickly. The middle layers are rubbing freely against each other. A quilt with 4"-12" between quilting doesn't slide around much when used or washed.
  4. Have you tried a smaller needle? I usually use a 3.5/16 with glide thread with no problems. I think some people go up a size for batiks. One of my first quilts was a batik jelly roll race quilt. I didn't change anything when I quilted it because I didn't know that maybe I should. Maybe try a 4.0/18 and/or a 3.5/16 needle. Personally, it doesn't look bad to me. I find we are our own worst critics and have high expectations. And then we look at the stitches with our nose 3" from the quilt, sometimes with a magnifying glass. Most other people look at our quilts and think they're lovely. Good luck, Sue
  5. It would be helpful if you edit the post TITLE to include the word "SOLD". This will prevent additional questions weeks/months later inquiring if the machine is still available.
  6. I would say this is the combination of wool batting and the open weave linen fabric. Some batting can beard worse than others and from what I've read, wool is more prone to that. I don't think there's a way to stop the bearding once it has started. If you're set on keeping this, you may need to take it apart and put different batting. You may want to look for one with scrim which is a fine layer of bonded fibers which may keep the batting from bearding. What brand of batting did you use? And did you do any quilting before you washed it? You said you washed & dried before "top stitching"? If you didn't add any stitching to hold all the layers together, then that's why it's a clumpy mess. All battings will give you a minimum quilting distance. That's the maximum space you can have between stitching lines for the batting not to migrate within the quilt. Hobbs wool batting is 4". Other fibers can have more space - sometimes 8"-10".
  7. Assuming you have an APQS machine, have you looked at the main APQS website? They have a lot of helpful articles to trouble shoot and maintain machines. They have current manuals available for download. If you have any older machine, you can contact APQS and request a manual for your machine. You may need to give them your serial number.
  8. Yes, you can easily get 2 sets of star pieces out of a FQ. There's enough to get at least 3. If you had a F8 that was at least 21" (usable fabric, excluding the selvage) you could squeeze out 2 blocks from the F8. You can see in the layout for the first cutting (pink), there's a lot of fabric you don't use. 3.375 3.375 3.375 3.375 3.75 3.75 = 21" across 3.75 3.75 3.375 3.375 3.375 3.375 = 21" across Underlined amounts would give you pieces for a 2nd block. Those 2 rows together are 7 1/8" vertically. I find it helpful to just draw it out on scratch paper to see the different arrangements for cutting. They don't have to be to scale - just draw boxes and label the dimensions. Then add them up across and down and see what you need. You could use sticky notes too (label dimensions) - that would make it easier to move them around.
  9. You could use fat quarters if you’re not finding fat eighths. You could have more than one block with the same fabric (if you buy 10 FQ) Or you’ll just have leftovers to add to your stash (buy 20 FQ). This pattern does seem confusing as far as what they call the fabrics. As I read this: FQ = color B Accent = color A White = background It looks to me like the center square in each block is the white/background fabric. It looks like those are the 4” cut pieces because everything else is an even quantity. If you wanted to make the center squares from a different fabric than the white/background, you certainly could. If you’re doing blues and greens as your stars, you should have enough fabric (even using F8) to cut a 4” block. So if you had a blue star, you could do a green center square and vice versa. Just a thought… check out Fat Quarter Shop for free patterns. I find their patterns are very well written for beginners. Good luck and reply if you need more help! Sue
  10. The limit would be how much quilt is on the back take up roller. The more finished quilt is rolled on that, the smaller your available quilting area will be because your machine will not be able to move as far forward. If you want to load enough backing for the 4 quilts, that shouldn’t be a problem. However you may want to cut the backing and remove each one as you finish. Then repin to the take up roller and do the next one.
  11. Not a video, but have you looked at this? Specifically page 36. https://www.apqs.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/APQS-Maintenance-Manual-20220710.pdf
  12. APQS machines don’t record stitch counts. If you’re looking to purchase one, APQS can tell you about service records (provide the serial number). Also ask the current owner how often they oil and clean the machine.
  13. @Auntda64 a response is unlikely. The seller last visited the forum in April 2022. You can try sending them a direct message by clicking on their name and then the Message button.
  14. @Karla Strachan if you click on the poster’s name, you can see the last time they visited the forum. Evan Duke has not been on the site since April 2019 so it’s unlikely you’ll get a reply.

  16. @IreneBloom I noticed you commented on another George listing. Thought I'd direct you to this one in case you hadn't seen it.
  17. Scoop foot for sale for APQS machines. Will not fit MY19, Ult2, George. $60.00, plus $9.00 shipping, for USA. Pay pal preferred. Email: longarmhideaway@gmail.com This is posted weekly in the Facebook group.
  18. I’ve heard washing makes them shrink a lot. You could probably take them off and leave them outside to see if they will air out. Otherwise you may need to replace them. You could buy from APQS or make your own. Sorry this happened to you.
  19. Andria - you may get more interest if you post more details about your machine. Does it have bliss? Does it include a computer? Does it have auto advance? Are other items included such as thread, ruler templates, or pantographs? You may also want to include photos of the machine.
  20. I love sewing binding on with my longarm. Not having to wrestle the quilt around near my sewing machine is awesome. Sue
  21. I'm not looking for a machine, but that's a great price for someone who wants a longarm but doesn't want to spend the money for newer models. Good luck with the sale!
  22. I have trouble remembering which way the bobbin goes in. On my Freddie, when I hold the bobbin case in my hand, the thread coming off the bobbin should be like a cursive/small letter q (for quilt), not a p. I never have to remember with my sewing machine - I have a Bernina that uses proprietary bobbins and they only fit in the bobbin case one way.
