Sounds like you have a blunt needle and it is catching on fibers and forcing them to the back. I would say change the needle.

My pfaff grandquilter 18.8 has developed a squeal and it seems like extra clatter in the bobbin area. I have gotten rid of lint, oiled it, changed the needle. Now what?
