Since the hopping foot that comes on the Gammill is 9/16" when you line the edge of that up with the ruler you are not getting a true and accurate 1/4" inch. If you continue lining your rule up 1/2", 3/4" etched ruler lines, the spacing is not accurate. In other words, I have to mark my quilt tops and then stitch on the marked lines for accuracy. This adds a considerable amount of time to the quilting process and I am running the risk of the marked lines staining the quilt top.
Also they have a spoon foot in the set that from what I understand is very helpful when working with patchwork or pantographs it is supposed to reduce puckering on the patchwork and allow you to stitch off and back on a top with snagging the sides of the quilt.
From what I am understanding before Gammill came out with the Quick Change Foot system they did have changeable feet (not sure which ones), however, when you changed out the foot you had to adjust the height of the hopping foot each time. So, to make things simpler and easier they came up with the new system that comes with an adapter that you glue to your hopping foot, and then the feet are changeable without having to adjust the hopping foot height.
I am looking for either of the types of feet. At this point I am trying to figure out the math to mark a piece of medical tape making the 1/16" adjustments and attaching it to the back of my clear ruler. Perhaps there are rulers out there that this has already been done, but I am only see rulers that assume your foot is the true 1/2" foot.
Hope this make a little more sense, and I am hoping others may have suggestions on how they use their rulers for accuracy since my Ultimate 2 also has the 9/16" foot, so it doesn't matter which machine I use, I am still having the same issue.
Thanks so much!
