Replacing Canvas Leaders

Hello (I'm new) I bought an APQS Ultimate II, used, and have removed and washed the canvas leaders! Now, I need to remove the old glue and clean the pipes. I tried using a razor blade knife (carpet cutter type). Too tedious - the glue does not even flake off, powders. It would take forever! Any suggestions? Then, what solvent to remove traces of glue after scraping the worst of it?
