New addition to our Family!  She is a two and a half month old "Teddy Bear".  We named her "Bitzie" (a play off of Itsy Bitsy); she is no larger than a pop can.

I have a custom for a good friend who made a Delectable Mt Quilt. She is Modern and doesn’t want panto. Name of quilt will have
something about the Blue Ridge Mts. Am doing paisley feathers on the outer edge. Was trying to get star in quilt but don’t think it’s going to work.

Thank you all so much for all the suggestions and all were followed....but......
Thought I would update this topic. The glide thread worked but this customer really doesn’t like the shine. I thought this is not going to beat me. So ........I needed top tension tighter?
i changed my needle to a 19, mostly cause I ran out of 18s
I retreaded the machine and looped the thread through both holes on the thread guide above the tension disk. O
I took off the ruler plate and  took off  one paper side of the bobbin and “ voila “ it worked.  It is  great tension without having the tension knob and bobbin case at extreme settings. I wish I had done each separately so I would know which one worked or if it had to be both. This custom is primarily freehand with little ruler work so I might find out later.
Hope this helps you when your stumped.
thanks again for all all the help.

It has been awhile but I didn't have any problems. I did use a batting. I think a low loft poly batting.  Make sure you don't stretch the Minky when loading. Load  with the lengthwise grain against the  leaders.  I adjusted tension as usual. Good luck

I am finishing a quilt and in order to get the right color for the accents I used two threads. Don't have a duel cone holder so used small spools of Mettler's poly sheen, used fabric tack glue and attached to cone holder. Worked like a charm. Hope this helps someone!

The spools just pulled right off and I rubbed the rest of glue off the stand. ( like rubber cement) I thought about using poster putty, but couldn't find any so resorted to the glue.

I'm with Jennifer. Do an open side to side movement following the fabric. This will enhance the background fabric. Match your thread to the background and it will blend in and give texture.

jbnt9999 got a reaction from Leida Glez in cleaned with alcohol
    From what I understand:
1- the bliss is steel and doesn't oxidize like the others. You can wipe them with alcohol it won't hurt.
2- The black wheels that are on the bliss, do not use alcohol on. It will dry them out. I use a brush and q tip to clean them.
3- Yes, clean the edge of the carriage with left over batting with alcohol. You will see black come off onto your batting. I roll the machine all the way forward and clean, then back and wipe.
Hope this helps and if not right others please chime in so I can learn.

This is the finished quilt. Did feathers in the house areas, then straight lined below to match the borders.

I was just going to do a background fill. It is a little curl filler. I was thinking last night about changing and doing all the stars and outer ring with CCs then mctavishing or teardrops ,cross hatching in background. And channel in the outer border.
This is one I did she liked . Wanted hers quilted like it. Fine then had those house shapes.

If you're going to put feathers in the center star diamonds, do the same in the matching rust-colored outer diamonds between the houses. What are the plans for the background?

The house shapes can be marked into triangles using the adjacent seams. The smaller house can have 5 triangles and the larger house 6 triangles. Make sure you're careful to mark them all the same (meaning, if you mark a square and then into triangles, make sure when you halve it into triangles the lines match in each similar space---don't ask why I'm mentioning this...  ) Mark the triangles and CC them. Use a more decorative CC if the budget allows. Feathers in the star points will be lovely.
