I bought the led lights that mount under/above the needle bar and LOVE IT! Just as bright as the new machines! Why wouldnt you go that route instead of having that big ole tube in your vision path?

Ok, my luck, we'd get rearended. Then a nice sewing machine imprint would be permenantly embedded into my skull along with the spool of thread.
I'd NEVER do it. But that's me. Roads are not smooth enough to ensure a quality pieced quilt top, or anything for that matter. But, good luck to ya!
I tried hand embroidery ONCE. yup, ONCE! Roads not smooth enough to get that dang needle back in where ya want it. Wont do any sewing while riding along in a car.

I do EXACTLY with Lisa does. I have 2 pair of snappers sewn into canvas that zip on. Then, I have one set of zippers alone, that incase I have something SMALL or a quilt sandwich where the backing is NOT quite the big enough size to snap on that extra fabric, I then pin it.
Never tried leader grips.

Gals, barb nailed this. Your wheels need to have that itty bitty space where they "float" on those rails.
Ask me how I know this. Learned it quite a few years back, and my machine 2005 millie, you'd have to pry out of my DEAD fingers to acquire. Myrna quilted on my machine and said, Quote' Dang girl, you have a smooth machine!!!

IMHO...I LOVE them BOTH! Why choose just one brand ????? When, you can have a little of this...and a little of that? ....AND, always have on hand what you want!!
But, thats just MHO (my humble opinion).. To Each their OWN!

Oh boy...I need those soooo bad! I am wanting to rip out the carpeting in my quilting room, and put in wood floors..so I can get those anti fatigue mats as well.
There are alot of "office" supply stores that sell them..and I know I have seen numerous places "on line" too. Just google them..your choices are endless.
Styles, colors...etc.

Hubby built mine. It resembles a Horn cabinet, but bigger, longer and wider table top area (when I used to quilt with it, I needed the top wider & longer).
There are plans everywhere, if you have a handy hubby/friend/ or even you!
Your possibilities are endless.

May I ask, how much is the encoder box? I looked on the APQS parts list, and didn't see it.
I too am having the SAME issues as Durham. However, I took my quilt off, and I am going off of memory that it did it ONLY horizontally, not vertically.
I will attempt to tighten up my encoder wheel "again." Maybe hubby and I didnt get it tight enuf (close enuf) to the wheel.
But, in the interim, if it's a bad encoder, i'd love to know the price. THANKS for ALL YOU DO DAWN! Dont know where we'd all be without you!

Cheryl, you are correct, but use more than one layer of the paper towel. You DONT want that hot wax coming thru on your iron!
