Any quilty Christmas gifts?
QuiltingLane replied to ffq-lar's topic in Gone Quilting...Chat About Anything
No, there wasn't a label or other information from the seller other than the name on the sales tag. I'm guessing it was made in the 30s based on some of the fabrics. -

Any quilty Christmas gifts?

I told my quilting girlfriends about this antique quilt I saw in a shop in Arizona with my mother. They contacted my mother and arranged for her to purchase it for them. Was I surprised when I opened my Christmas gift. It was called "Thousand Leaves" quilt. We counted 1,074. All turned applique and hand quilted. Sooo cool. I hope the pictures work. -
My Pastor's wife wants a serger for Christmas and he asked me to help him. Unfortunately, I don't know anything about them. He would like something middle of the road as far as features - not too simple that she ends up wanting more, but not so advanced that she's overwhelmed (or that he can't afford it ). If anyone could recommend a good make/model I know he would appreciate any input. Thanks so much! Jody

Need Prayers and info on New Orleans
QuiltingLane replied to Cheryll's topic in Gone Quilting...Chat About Anything
Prayers for you and your daughter. It's nice that you are able to be with her during this time. As for New Orleans, you need to go to Mother's for breakfast. A little hole-in-the-wall place that you'll never forget. Good food and even better experience. You eat family style at large tables with the other customers so it's a great opportunity to meet some new people. We sat with an older southern couple from Baton Rouge and two of Jimmy Buffet's body guards. Made for great conversation. Jody -

Karen McTavish on Simply Quilts
QuiltingLane replied to Mary Beth's topic in Gone Quilting...Chat About Anything
I grew up with naturally curly hair when straight hair was in and used to tape my bangs down with that pink hair tape to try and get them to straighten out even a little bit. My brother even tried it a couple times as he has the same curls! (Wish I had a picture of that!) In case anyone is still reading the thread for the original subject, I was able to view Karen\'s appearance online. Here is a copy of the link, but if it doesn\'t work, just go to Simply Quilts on HGTV and search Karen McTavish in the SQ videos. Karen, your hair looked great, but I like the dreads better! http://www.h -

My husband did something similar to Sheri\'s. It\'s track-lighting with the small puck lights and then he attached some shades to them.. He mounted them on hinges so they can shine on either the quilt or the back table for pantos. I\'ll try and attach a picture. -
Congratulations!! I\'m going tomorrow and can\'t wait to see it in person.

Congrats! I just got mine in September and still can\'t believe it. I felt the same way you did when I placed my order. Isn\'t it great? When it arrives you\'ll be like a kid at Christmas - wanting all your friends to come over and look at the cool new toy you got. Enjoy!
