  1. Are you actually offering this machine for free? I'd be happy to send the info out to my customer base.
  2. Are you on the QP Facebook Page? And re: your issue: first thing to check are your clamps - are they fully engaged? That would mean straight up and then a bit over the top to lock - both of them. Is the stepping motor mounted on your table plugged in? There are two cords that run from your power "bundle" to that motor - one has a molex (white) connection, the other has a phone cord-type connection. Unplug both of those and replug them to make sure they are fully seated. Then do the same thing with all the plugs that are plugged into the back part of your carriage - unplug and replug. All this should be done with your carriage, head and QP powered down, then start everything up, in that order - carriage on (switch lights up), head powered on, then tablet powered on. Set your clamps and engage QP. If none of that works, call APQS Service in the morning and describe each step that you've taken. Better yet, get on the QP FB page and get help ASAP. To do that, send a friend request to one of the admins - myself, Heidi Patterson or Angela Hugli Clark - and we'll get you added. Your APQS Rep should be able to add you, as well.
  3. Dave Jones has been known to travel to service or deliver machines, Sue, but right now there's some concern about his ability to deliver what he promises. There are several of us that are willing to travel to do Machine Services - I've been to Alaska once and Hawaii several times to do service and training for APQS owners. There are others, as well. If you're a member of the We Love APQS Facebook group, that would be an excellent place to ask for traveling servicefolks - it's watched more diligently by reps than this forum is!
  4. Julie, I've accepted your Friend Request and added you to the QP Facebook Page. On your safe area check a couple of things: that the clamps are fully engaged, that you're not in Simulation Mode, that your cables are all plugged in. Can you post a photo of the screen you see when it says your Safe Area is not set? Maybe on the QP FB page?
  5. When you fixed the results of the needle break, did you happen to unclamp your clamps? If they aren't firmly secured, you won't be able to set the Safe Area. Another place you can come for Quilt Path help (with a more immediate response) is our Quilt Path Users Group on Facebook. If you're on Facebook, find me there (Barbara Mayfield - Barbara Jeanne Potter) and send me a Friend Request. Once I've verified that you're an APQS owner with Quilt Path, I can add you to the group.
  6. Obviously, there's more going on than a threading issue, as you said! Send an email to service@apqs.com, describing your symptoms. They'll get it figured out!
  7. I can't see your thread path too well in your photo - thread's too light-colored. On your USB drive, there should be a document about the "New Controls" - there should be instructions on using the Thread Break Sensor in that document, if I remember correctly. In a nutshell, your thread path should usually be as follows: Up from your cone of thread into the first thread guide (this guide should be centered over the cone), forward to the three-hole guide under the Thread Break Sensor. Wrap around that guide three times, starting at the bottom - go through the bottom hole back-to-front, back around to do the same with the middle hole and the top hole. Then around the Thread Break Sensor, in the same direction as the arrow on it is pointing, then forward to the other three-hole guide. Go through the top hole in that guide, front-to-back, then back down through the last hole. Down to the tension assembly, around it (making sure that the thread is seated between the tension plates), over the check spring, down under the "shepherd's crook" thread guide, up to the take-up lever, down through the pigtail, around to the pigtail above the needle, then through the needle. Clear as mud??
  8. You should have threading instructions in your manual, either on CD or flashdrive. Can you post a photo of your thread path? We might be able to help you figure out where it needs to be.
  9. You should be able to adjust your M&M wheels so that you have a nice smooth ride. I've added a post from a much earlier thread that may help you to properly adjust your wheels. It may also be that you have one or more wheels that have bad bearings - call Amy at APQS Service, she can help you figure that one out. You should NOT have this much trouble moving your machine! And never feel like you are bothering anyone here - that's what this forum is for. Proper Wheel Adjustment.pdf
  10. If you're getting long stitches, and both directions, it sounds like you may have an electrical problem in the stitch encoder circuit - Amy is the only one able to help with that. It's an outside possibility that both of your little rubber encoder wheels have moved out of adjustment - check that they are snug against the machine wheels, just in case. Otherwise, are you able to quilt in manual mode? I know it's not the best solution, but it might get you through until Monday.....
  11. Jo, if you're already working with Amy on it, then you have the best service person in your corner!! Not sure I understand what you mean by "if you ease the top thread through it forms the stitch." What year is your Millie? If it's newer and has the thread break sensor, the thread path may be different than older models.
  12. Jo, the first thing you need to do is determine if this is a problem just side-to-side, just front-to-back, or all directions. That will help narrow down which stitch encoder is having issues. Next, you need to figure out whether you are getting "missed" stitches or "long" stitches: missed stitches are the result of the needle going down through the fabric but not making the stitch with the bobbin thread - you will see needle holes underneath the line of stitching. Long stitches are usually a result of an encoder wheel not making proper contact with the machine wheel, so that your Millie doesn't know that you are moving it, so it doesn't even try to make that stitch. Once you've figured out these two things, get back on here and we'll help you figure out the solution!
  13. Mary, Call APQS and they'll walk you through adjustments to the #8 screw. It controls the needle up/down speed. I've made this adjustment twice since I set up my Millie in April. If you can't reach APQS, search the chat for "needle up/down" - this happens to most of us at one time or another. If you're not comfortable making the adjustment yourself, I found if my Millie had a time-out (let her cool down a little) the problem goes away, at least for a little while. Have faith - your Millie will sew sweetly again soon!
