  1. Thats the same as I'm trying to do, Shelly, you may also want to post at "Quilters Flea Market" Good luck with it all. rita
  2. I wish, but have dozens of magazines and some books I'm in need of selling. It's making the list that is hard for me. Good luck,
  3. We used the weld line, and duct taped the leaders to the bar. We taped both sides. It really wasn't hard to replace them. But. lol, There were two of us working on them. Rita
  4. Could you post a url for the device... I'm interested in knowing just how/what it is. I have the Side Saddle.. Rita
  5. Great solution.. Rita
  6. I'ts sad people have such black hearts, and no conscience. Glad you came out the Victor, and you are Right. Always, Always get your business in contracts, signed personally whenever possible. I can't understand how she says in business.. maybe she won't much longer. Good luck, and welcome to the board.. I don't remember greeting you, but with brain burps and naps, who knows.. lol, glad you are here. Rita
  7. Don't be afraid to keep a cloth with Static Guard sprayed on it, close to or on your machine. Refresh the spray as needed. I even use it on the quilt with No adverse affects.. I spray it right on.
  8. Hi Diane, Welcome to the wild whacky world of long arm quilting with an APQS, or something other. Glad to have new memebers all the time, eagerly looking forward to picts, info, progress, fun trials and temptations to find sheep sheers and attack a quilt. LOL, not really, steroids make my brain run worse than it usually does with visuals. I hope you stay with us a long, long time. There are so many things.. the needle bar slightly out of place, so when the machine is moved over the fabric at a particular pace, and particular direction, the needle may hit. Another is the timing. It really isn't hard to do IF you Follow the directions Step by Step! my brain is laboring. Do you feel the machine bump?? if so, is it always in the same place? If so again, check tracks and wheels carefully, maintain as instructed. Stitching on it's own sounds like a small adjustment.. are you using stitch regulator when this happens. Also on the needle end of things, is it by chanced burred on the end or marred, so it would pick up a thread and pull the needle out of the best alignment, and perhaps hit something? Check the needle hole on the throat plate, and the bobbin casing and bobbin race, the bobbin itself for burrs, bends, etc. Does it only do this with one particular thread, or various ones? I've emptied my brain on things it could be... Nope, Check the top thread guides and see if there is a bur somewhere in one of them. Also check the thread spool/cone and make sure nothing is snagging the thread in any of them. The pigtails seem to be particularly fond of that trick unless they have the ceramic lining in the ring. Also, the thread could be catching on a screw/bolt head, or edge of a piece of the machine casing, or on the check spring assembly, etc. Mine has done some funny things, even without help from himself.. If using synthetic threads, I always now dip them in Mineral oil I've put in a large empty peanut butter jar. I sometimes have to also use a drop or so of Sewers Aid, and even spray silicone on top of the quilt. When I use the Sewers aid, I automatically hit the top thread guides except for the check spring/tension assembly. Even the needle, and thread in it. If you don't have a cover for the flywheel on the stop go button side of the machine, either purchase one from apqs or rig something up. One gal used a piece of styrofoam cup. Until it happens to you, you really have NO idea what it can be like to find a way to get all the eagles nests and Baltimore Oriole nests of threads out of the machine. Sorry to go on and on like this. Amy at apqs, maintenance, is wonderful to help, understands better than anyone I know,, can even diagnose a problem over the phone just listening to the machine, in many instances. Don't be afraid to call. If busy with another customer someone will get back to you. I think Sept, Oct. are very busy show months.. could be totally wrong, so they do work short handed a bit at the factory where Amy works. Hope something in this mess can help.. please do let us know what it is/was.. ? These other gals are giving a Lot of Good Info.. Rita
  9. when something like these quilts are made of old fabric, I think it would be a good idea to stick to cotton thread, as the synthetics have more stretch and would put tension on the quilt top fibers. (To my way of thinking!) Clair, I've not seen a quilt like that butterfly, but instantly fell in love with it. Beautiful job of quilting. Selection of stitch pattern hit the apex for the job. Debbie, that quilt is equally beautiful, and the yellow, exactly like the quilt top my hubbys Grandma made our oldest daughter, and didn't have time to finish. I'm guessing G'Grndma made this one in the early 60's with fabric that she already had. I machine finished the quilt for our daughter, and used cotton back, batting, and thread.
  10. Terrific Job, Kay.. I would love that quilt myself.. it is beautiful. I can see why you won 1st place! Congratulations.
  11. I doubt I'll be of help.. I think this is a call to Amy, she knows it all, as does Dawn C. Sounds like just a setting.. Hope you get it settled.. irritating to deal with. Rita
  12. Jess! You did a terrific Job on that. your stitching is so consitant and patterns also are. Great job of figuring out the photo posting. Rita
  13. I'd really like to have various answers. Bonnie is still in the top bunch for Thread information.. Thanks,. Rita
  14. Zeke, move your pictures into Paint program.. or click on them and select Öpen With" then select Paint. They are usually built into computers.. there click on Ïmage" then on "Resize and Skew", you can use the first two boxes, both have 100 in them, to reduce the picture size.. try various sizes from 60% to 30%, depending on the pixels your camera is using.. if it's not the size you want, go to Edit and click on Undo.. go back to pict and try a diff. size. also the extra posts whic didn't bring up the pic t. you can go into ëdit" in the top right corner of your posts, one at a time, and scroll down a bit and you will find a block to check for Delete This Message, then Edit Post. They disappear. RitaR
  15. Don't Leave Homesteader out of the line up. I was able to have several of my comm. service quilts quilted on one, and they also sound less noisy than many other machines.. They also have a nice little computer unit to fit on it, or on the APQS, for a very nice price, on both. You can see them at www.TheQuiltingSolution.com Jewnnifer and Dave are wonderful people, and easy to work with, very knowledgeable. RitaR
  16. Cassandra.. Is your bobbin being wound tightly and evenly?? When I used an alternate very small bobbin winder that comes with the machine now, I really had a mess.. and never could get a tight bobbin wound.. if you can squeeze just the thread part, not the sides of the bobbin, and it is squishy, it is not wound tight enough. RitaR
  17. Beautiful, gorgeous, stunning, excellent.. I love color, red, roses and pretty things.. so all aspects are right up my alley. the stipple was so even in size, to not detract, couldn't see the rose on the rose.. Just know it's neigh on perfect. RitaR
