I ended up taking off the Velcro after several years of fighting the mess. Works just as well.

I still find it amusing that folks think stitch in the ditch is an easy and cheap way to get their quilt quilted.

Strap with a hunk of painters tape a small knitting needle on top with a cork on the end to hold the thread. Works great.

Join a local guild but don't be surprised if you get the cold shoulder from the resident quilter in the group. Volunteer to help with their projects. Once they see your work, people will migrate to you. Don't go after the other quilters' clientele but wait for the new members who will find you are available when the others are backed up. Word of mouth gets you lots of repeat customers.

Not familiar with this machine but I think you need stitch regulator with any computerized system. I know there are time my IQ tells me it need to be regulated.

My mother was a hoarder. Her favorite item was paper of all kinds. She died last November and we are slowly cleaning out her house. My sister who will inherit the house is in no hurry to leave Florida for the weather we are experiencing here (14 inches of snow, followed by another snow storm, and temperatures in the teens). For those of you in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Alaska, I can hear the "you weeny", LOL but  I digress.  Last week when cleaning out a drawer, I found a birth announcement for a childhood friend along with a picture of her in the hospital bassinet which looked like a wire basket. My daughter, who has been helping me, tells me it is like a treasure hunt. That's one way to look at it!

I have a 2007 Millie which I added an after market LED lighting and upgraded to Bliss several years ago. Never regretted that move even with the added expense of old vs. new. My machine is old and had it's first spa treatment last year and is running great.  A couple of years ago added Intelliquilter computer. Love that addition also.

I am one of those who refuses to do Facebook (or rather Facebook do me). I have been reading the forum for the past 10 years and have learned so much from the folks sharing their experience and knowledge. I admit I have never posted a picture. Didn't take the time to learn how to do, so shame on me. The forum used to be a hopping place with lots of information. Now it seems to be just a used machine for sale site. So sad.

You're asking for broken needles going over those junctions. You would have to go super slow and probably not in stitch regulator mode. Don't ask me how I know this.

Before I went computerized, I had a panto that was called Fireworks. I used it with a metallic thread on one of my QOV quilts.

How much you can charge depends on the area. We have lots of quilters doing their own and some for their friends, lots of work done under the table. In fact when I added the computer, I dropped my price on edge to edge because I didn't have to "do the work". A friend of mine is always talking about pricing with other longarmmers and I know she is talking at me about how cheap I am but I am trying to pay for the computer. A little bit is better than nothing.

Lora, I retired ten years ago from the Feds and never missed a day of it. Occasionally I have a nightmare that I'm back at work. LOL. You'll be amazed how fewer $$$ it takes not having to go to work. I cut my wardrobe down and of course the auto expenses. Loving going to my sewing room everyday.

Please take a look around and try the new features. We think you'll like the new system. In the coming weeks, we'll be posting answers to frequently asked questions and tweaking a few things to better suit the community.
I'd like to extend a special thank you to our beta testers while we worked out the bugs. Your help is very much appreciated.
    Have a great Thanksgiving weekend!

I just did a quilt like this for one of my customers and did a continuous curve in the hexi's. She had set her into a black background and appliqued a vine in the border. I did a small (not micro) meander in the black. Didn't get any pictures as she is going to bling it up for the quilt show this weekend.
