Busy Quilting got a reaction from quiltmonkey in Pokies with wool batting after washing?
I had trouble with "bearding " from a pure wool batting more than ten years ago. It was gentle machine washed.
I now use wool/poly on a scrim in all of my quilts and they have been through the washing machine numerous times.

Busy Quilting reacted to Oma in Taking care of the canvas
I've had my Liberty 9 years and I've replaced them three times.  The first time I changed them was because they were stretched,  Then I ordered some canvases that had been printed with a one inch grid and other markings.  I thought I would love them.  I did not.  That was also my phase of "zippers".  Didn't like those either.  Then I decided I wanted some pretty canvas.  Nope that was kind of stupid.  So now I'm back to my natural colored canvases and I seem to be content with them.  It's not hard to change them and the canvas is cheap enough.  The hardest thing is the first time and fear of messing them up.  I think how often you would need to change them would depend on how many quilts you do.  I quilt in spurts and only for myself and I let my friends quilt on my machine and I figure about every 3 - 5 years at least.

Busy Quilting reacted to Laura Farnham in Straight Line and Rolling Feathers,...... INSPIRED by a pattern from the Eleanor Burns Star Log Cabin Book, Colorado Log Cabin with Stars
    UPDATED FEB 3,2022
Thank you for your overwhelming interest in this piece I quilted for my client back in 2015.
many have inquired about the pattern for the quilt as well as the digital patterns for the quilting.
I have attached the book used to inspire this piece as my client did do modifications to the pattern
for the Stars to fit her liking.
The Quilting was all freehand on my APQS Milli.  of course,... you could use a feather stencil or digital feather design
and a ruler for the straighline work...
I hope this helps anyone looking to make this quilt,.. or a version of it,..
    Happy Quilting
    Laura

    Update,.....
I did point out mistake to customer and we both decided it needed to be fixed.
so,... spent an afternoon picking out stitches,  and 10 minutes to restitch the Feather,...
I was happy to do it as it was my mistake,....
I always point out mistakes if any,.. big or small
    and let the customer decide,....
this one I knew she would want fixed,....
She is very pleased with the end result!!!
    and so am I!!!
    Thanks for looking ,....
    Happy Quilting,...

Love the combination of the two,...  Simple,.. with a pop!!!
I used a double Cotton Batting on this one,..  wanted the feathers to stand up
and take center stage,... Matching Glide Threads in the Grey, Burgundy and White Areas,...
    Thanks for looking,...

** can you see the mistake?  Found it after I pulled it off the frame,....  :0)

Make sure that whatever way you have your thread through the 3 hole guide that in the last hole it goes from the top down to the tensioner
