Have you checked that the machine is threaded correctly and you have the correct needle size for the thread that you are using? Also check the thread path for burrs. Have you tried a different type of thread? Have you been able to figure out where the break occurs? APQS can troubleshoot over the phone if you aren't able to solve the problem. Good luck and I hope that you are soon back to quilting.

Documentation for CompuQuilter
srichardson replied to APQS Service Technician's topic in Compu-Quilter
I believe that you can get support from Itelliquilter. Give these links a try https://www.intelliquilter.com/compuquilter-support.php https://www.intelliquilter.com/compuquilter-home.php Good luck. -
I would check for burrs along the thread path. Also try a different cone of thread. Have you tried the suggestions mentioned earlier in this post? Hope that you are able to find the problem. Welcome to the forum.

WOW, what a nasty and unpleasant response. -
I agree completely with what Jim said. On this machine there is no room to quilt anything other than something just a few inches long. The area of the quilt that has been quilted and rolled onto the back roller will very quickly fill up the throat of the machine. It will be impossible to continue quilting. This machine was not made to move over the fabric, but to have the fabric move under the foot. I would imagine that it would be difficult to get good tension. There are used longarms available for sale that would serve you well and save much frustration. Look for a machine that was purpose built. Good luck with you search. I hope that you are able to find a machine that is within your budget and that you can enjoy.

The only time I take mine off is when I need to clean underneath it.

I believe some of what you are seeing is actually caused by the backing fabric that you are using. The fabric only has the design printed on one side. Some of the lighter coloured threads on the back of the fabric are being pushed through to the front by the needle. Moda fabrics often have this problem. It is very frustrating and something to be aware of when you are being backing fabrics.

Barb Mayfield Is AMAZING!!!

I am sorry to hear about your loss. You have had so many big changes to cope with. Happy to hear that Barb was able to help you with your Millie and hope that it will bring you some peace. -
I find them useful but they are not essential. Lots of machine owners survive without them. Welcome to the forum and happy shopping.

Delux table dimensions?
srichardson replied to missgracie's topic in Millennium and Freedom Quilting Machines
Craigslist.com often have the Ikea Alex cabinets for sale. I have four in my sewing room that are previously loved and in good condition. I saved money on cabinets and bought fabric!! -
Delux table dimensions?
srichardson replied to missgracie's topic in Millennium and Freedom Quilting Machines
I am not able to measure my frame at the moment. It does depend on how high you have your frame set. I have one of these under my frame and lots of fabric storage boxes too. I don't move anything in order to quilt and I don't have an issue. Welcome to the forum. Have fun with your new machine! https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/alex-drawer-unit-on-casters-white-80485423/ -
Essential Thread by Connecting Threads
srichardson replied to Heathers Quilt Garden's topic in Troubleshooting & Tips
I soak a small piece of batting in mineral oil and put it in the thread guide above the cone. I haven't had a problem with staining. Sharon Schamber dunks the entire cone of thread in mineral oil! -
The couple that owned Circle Lord retired some years ago. Someone bought out their remaining stock but I don't know the name of that person. This link to their old site may answer your question. Enjoy your new machine. https://circlelordbasic.blogspot.com

If the fabric with the blue stripe is showing the bobbin thread tighten the top tension. If the blue fabric is the top fabric tighten the bobbin tension. Play with the tension until the stitches sink into the centre of the batting and you have things balanced. Good luck and happy quilting. Welcome to the forum.

Bars that go over rollers.

Lora, Marilyn's website is marilynbadger.com. Did you try Myrna Ficken, it looks as though she might have them. Sue D. post the a link. Hope you are able to find them for your new machine. -

I have those too and don't know what they are called. Hartley Badger died several years ago so they probably aren't being made any more. You might try contacting Marilyn Badger to ask her if they are still being produced or check with APQS. -
Needle holes where quilting was picked out
srichardson replied to Stitch holes in completion's topic in APQS Help
If the there is no chance of the colour bleeding try spritzing with water and using a soft toothbrush. Good luck and welcome to the forum. -
All of the brands that you mention are reputable. The best thing you could do is to check to see if there are any large quilt shows scheduled in your area where you could go and try the different machines. It is a little like buying a car, one make and model doesn't fit everyone. APQS has road shows in various parts of the country and they are a good place to start. I don't know if the other companies do anything similar. It is a good idea to stick with a company that produces purpose built industrial machines and has been in the business for a long time. There are lots of machines out there that are just little more than a stretched version of a DSM. Buyer beware! Check if you are able to do the maintenance yourself or if the machine has to be shipped back to the factory? Is telephone support available? Is there any training offered when you buy the machine? Think carefully about the throat size. There often seem to be quite a number of smaller machines for sale as owners decide that they would prefer a machine with a larger throat. Have you checked out the APQS demo machines? They come available occasionally and are a good deal. I bought my Millie during a demo sale and have been very happy with it. Good luck with your search and welcome to the forum.
