Janice H got a reaction from RunningThreads in Timing?
I hit the backbar with machine & needle down. Didn't hurt the quilt but couldn't move the needle. We got the book out(that came with the machine) and had no problem timing the machine. The instructions are good. Machine works great now.

Janice H got a reaction from dbams in What to do about pokies!
I am (most definitely) the pokey queen. It happened again. Quilt backing is pieced with two different fabrics. One finished with no pokies. The other fabric had a zillion pokies. I threw it in the dryer on delicate for 15 minutes. The small pokies disappeared completely. I took a marker close to the color of the fabric with the pokies and lightly touched the pokies. It looks great. How lucky can I be!! The fabric that is fine is 100%cotton. The fabric with the pokies is a mix of cotton and polyester. She is a fairly new quilter. I will be more careful with the batting I use if she uses the poly fabric again.

Janice H got a reaction from Lauralorene in Ruler work
I have been playing with ruler work. I like the results but find it very time consuming as I have to mark most of it in advance to loading the quilt. It takes me a lot longer to quilt using mostly rulers to guide my stitching. How does one charge for this kind of quilting? I can't imagine any of the folks I quilt for paying what I think I should get for all on the time and work involved.
