  1. Hi Ammoman My husband caught the quilt bug too.. Long MI winters with out much to do, decided maybe we could spend time togehter if he started quilting. His style is his own... I did teach him the basics of seam matching and pattern lay out... and now he does his own thing... He loves to work with panels, His first quilt was his own pattern but blocks and he didnt like that technique in the end so would up cutting and sewing and trimming ect till he had what he wanted. We both like bold bright colors.. but he likes to combine them in a way that my mind just runs screaming from the site.

  3. I have had mixed results letting people know of things I found while quilting. One lady used a bias inner border... thus her outter border looked like a ruff ocean. I have found seams that werent caught... If I wasnt quilting near I tried to pull a little fabric up and pin it with a safety pin so they could applique the seam down... Any how I panic. I always seem to feel like its my fault.... and feel bad talking to them about it..... MY Current problem has been three quilts in a row that the backing was to small... two were to short, one was too narrow. Both the ones that were

I have a poly quilt here.....some one donated to me to practie on...... its quilted but no one wants it.........lol........I guess I need to send it to the senior center.. Maybe some one needs a lap robe in the c

  8. My helpers, a Black lab..... she likes to walk on the hanging batting..grrr and my pug who use to have to put her paw on a quilt before I could mail it back.... as I folded it.. she would come up and put her paw on it as if to say..... "It passed inspection you can mail now"..... it was cute.. and the mother pug..... I have to watch as she will lick and swallow a raveling or thread hanging on...... I pulled 60" of trimmed nylon netting from her one day............that was before I knew you werent suppose to pull it out.... If I am sewing...... I stop if I hear repeated licking.... some o

  10. Our mom flowers were a bush too....... we had them 30 yrs ago.. then they died off and didnt reseed........ Hubby dug a pit for the celler sort of door to allow access to the crawl space.. and apparently he dug up a seed that had been safely saved in the ground for all that time...... and up popped a bush and bloomed like crazy....... they still seem to see back but only once in a while................ My flowers also consist of flowers that fend well for them selves.......... if they are sissy plants......... they dont make it. I have tall phlox, peony,....... My mom grew tons of differa
  11. OH my that was a bright one to work on........ did you have to wear sun glasses? (I am thinking it would have given me more of a head ache than I have had) Beautiful work...... the thread sure helped tone down the orange... it gave the eye something to look at other that looking at the sun effect that just the orange would have.
  12. my son always says....... there is no such thing as extra money.... its just a little ahead for the next problem......... and usually around here the problem hits before the money.
  13. Ok..... if some of you wash some fab and not the others...... What about shrinkage pull washed against unwashed? Isnt that sort of like grandmas old rule of never add new fab to an old item, the new will win the stretch and pull war?
  14. wow now I have to ask........how did you get it to line up so good? I see its a mirror image.......but it looks lined up perfect.. Linda Linda Susie Quilts. http://community.webshots.com/user/lindasusiequilts
  15. WOW I am wondering how the flowers were put on too. and how did you make the quilting stick out so much on the back? It looks like a ridge all around the flowers and petals and the hearts.... Like when you do bobbin work, up side down........ that is fantastic and if the fair judges dont think so..... we'll like em up and shoot T pins at them........
