  1. As a fellow Nebraska LAQ . . . if I get any requests from Pennsylvania I'll be getting in touch with you for a reference check! I've quilted for quite a few out of state customers, most of them more than once and never had any problems. I've never had one ship me 5 at the same time when I hadn't ever quilted for them. Sounds pretty scammy to me. My current frustration is from a local customer who can't seem to find the money to pick up her 2 quilts that have been done for 3 weeks. $350 Come to think of it this has happened to me in December before. Different customer. Maybe it's the time of year....
  2. Hi! Just wanted to update a few details! You can now register and pay online on my website. www.sewfari.com (Mail and/or calling is still an option.) Please ignore my very much in need of updating website. It's on my bucket list! We changed the time of the Saturday Trunk Show to 1:00pm. I'm reserving a block of rooms more than likely @ Sleep Inn (close to MGF), unless I can find a better discounted rate. Will know more in a couple days in case anyone needs a place to stay. So far there are still openings in all of the classes. Let me know if you have any questions! Becky

  6. Hi all! I hope everyone is going to be able to take advantage of Karen McTavish being in Nebraska again!! Thanks, Julia for posting the details! . . . and for signing up! I just want to clarify a couple of things. Debbie at Material Girl Fabrics and I are teaming up with Karen to put the workshops together. All of the classes will be at Material Girl in Grand Island. I'm "coordinating" the event which means all registrations are being sent directly to me. We're doing this to cut down on the confusion and make sure we don't overbook. I'm also working with APQS to arrange for the machines. As far as I know at this point we will have 4 machines, so there will be lots of hands-on time for everybody! If you have questios send a U2U, email me at info@sewfari.com, or call! Thanks!! Becky
  7. I know this isn't the time/location you were all hoping for, but Karen McTavish will be in Kearney this month! Check my other posting for details. We know you are all excited to learn from Karen and want to help make that happen!! I hope to meet some or all of you in the future! Until then . . . Happy Quilting!! 10. The topic grabbed my attention . . . I'm having one of THOSE days!! Not the same situation but maybe a similar conclusion. You gotta watch out/take care of yourself first, else you won't be good for anyone else. I'm learning that lesson once again!!! Enjoy quilting and take care of yourself!! Blessings! Becky

  12. One thing I did was bought 8 Sterlite (plastic?) cabinets . . . 4 have 4 drawers, the other 4 have doors and shelves. We lined them up back to back and DH built a countertop that sets over the top of them. It's covered with formica and looks really nice. Great for cutting and storage, etc. It's great for those days when I decide I need to "rearrange" things because it all comes apart easily. My room is about 32' x 14' with door to laundry room on one end and open stairway on the other. We have put in lots of lighting; it's in the basement so the only other light is from short but wide windows that are almost the length of the room. It doesn't even feel like I'm downstairs; nice and bright! I have my Millie setting lengthwise with my back to the windows since I can't really see much out of them anyway, and because I like to know when someone walks in the room while I have the machine going. (Otherwise I spook . . . and oops!) DH has put in a rack for rolls of batting, shelves for threads, long iron? closet rod suspended from the ceiling to hang quilts on, etc. I have to look at all I have waiting for me to do when I look up from the machine . . . not sure I like that part!! Anyway . . . that's my space! Hope this give you an idea or two! Oh, and if you are having any wiring done?? Outlets every two studs and a few on the floor!! lol! Becky

  14. I have had my AccuQuilt Studio for a few months now and I love it!! I have a quilt shop as well as my longarm business. For my shop needs, the GO didn't make sense because I wanted to be able to cut multiple blocks at one time. I did try a GO for a few weeks, have mixed feelings about it as far as the cost, especially if you have the service available. One thing you need to make sure of when checking internet for info and for the websites - be sure that you are looking and reading about AccuQuilt systems, NOT AccuCut. They are two different models made by the same company. the AccuCut originally came out for paper (scrap booking, etc.) but was also marketed for cutting fabric. After a few years the company redesigned/upgraded to the AccuQuilt system which is far better for fabric than the older models. As far as needing a lot of dies, they are packaged in sets. One of the sets I have will virtually make any traditional block combination you want to put together. Yes, I'd say the whole package was a HUGE investment, but so far so good. And as far as your questions Mindy . . . I would have loved to have someone offer to go in on this with me!! Sharing cost and time sounds like a great idea!!
