I notice that every now and then that there is no tension at all for about 8 inches and then I have perfect tension. At that time there is a loop at the back of my quilt. This happens only once in about 80 inches. I was wondering if this could be the take up spring. I notice when I was trying it out on a piece of scrap on the side of the quilt I stopped and then notice that there was no tension on the discs.

I figured it out. I loosen the top tension half a turn and it seems to be working better.

The top thread breaks every time I stop. I have changed the needle twice. I have rethreaded the machine. I have checked the needle plate and the hook for burrs. My tension is perfect on both sides. I have run out of what to try next. Any suggestions would be greatful.
