  6. Mapleton is just a hop through the hills for us. (About 12 miles) We are 8 miles as a crow flies from the boy scout camp that was hit, in the past. They still aren't letting us do much for Mapleton but cash donations to Red Cross or Salvation Army. My heart goes out to those. Mapleton is such a lovely little town. I'm so glad that your family member was safe! It's amazing that there were so few hurt.
  7. Congrats Penny...producing a pattern is quite the process! Good luck on your sales!!!
  8. Too fun! I tried snow dyeing, but the instructions had you put the fabric in the bottom of a rubbermade container with the snow and dye on top. Then you had to bring it inside to melt it. We didn't get as lovely of results as you did on this. I will be looking forward to seeing it with the additional colors added... Enjoy the process!
  9. How fun... I just picked out the neatest card the other day to send to her! She will be amazed when the cards start flowing in!!! Great thinkin' Dawn!
  10. Ok, it's not quilting related at all. But thought I would share this. This live feed was presented to my daughter's 2nd grade class and the entire school system to be able to monitor the process of the hatching of 3 eagle eggs. Right now mom and dad are taking turns keeping the nest warm. Pretty interesting and a great thing to catch, if you get to see them hatch. Night vision lighting is on them during the night time so the camera still catches the activity, and their are people monitoring so the camera can zoom in and out at different times. Hope someone else can enjoy it too! htt

  12. Thanks to all those that posted assistance on my issue. It seems that the cone of thread I had was possibly the issue. I tried all kinds of things, step by step..noting them on paper as I made the changes. Finally I got down to noting with a pencil right on the muslin a 1/4 turn, an 1/8 turn, etc. when I'd make the top tension change. That thread just didn't want to be happy. Tested a couple other spools on top and my problems went away. Amazing. My tension adjusted easily with both sig. cotton and so fine. So there you have it..... It was the strangest thing though. There would be a build u
  13. I'll be there. Coming in on Tuesday and heading out on Friday. VERY, VERY excited! I just pulled out my agenda of classes yesterday. I wished it were tomorrow!
  14. Took the Maintenance class last week and thought it might help me with some issues I was having. Timed the machine because there was no needle deflection happening when I checked. Stitches seem to form fine, but every so often (maybe every 12-15 inches of sewing) the top thread lays on the top of the fabric. Not like if you were having a railroad track issue but more like a short bunch of excessive thread. Then the stitches look fine. Sew fine in the bottom and a cotton covered poly on top. Then tried poly on top and get it pretty much either way. It happens on curves as well as straight
  15. A big thanks to Amy and the APQS gang for hosting another Machine Maintenance class in Carroll. I can only imagine how this disrupts your schedules! (Special thanks to the crew that backed up Amy while she was elbow deep in machines, with us!) Thanks for continually taking the time to hold these important classes. My machine went from a big, hairy long-arm to a bunch of manageable parts!! You did good and I truly enjoyed Amy's wonderful, relaxed way of going through everything and working with even those timid ones to be able to get in there and get it done. Lucy and Gloria, it was a

  21. Happy Spring everyone...I think I've finally come out of the winter dulldrums. Yesterday, on spring break, I took my 7 year old shopping for the fabric for a throw quilt that will go into her new room. We are in the process of the architectural drawings for 2 new additions to our home; great room with 2 car garage and masterbed room suite, her bedroom, utility room, office and bonus room new sewing/quilting space. She is very interested in having a Paris themed room. She picked blacks, whites, pinks and the three colors with a touch of green. We will be using the Cryptogram quilt pattern
