  1. My friend just purchased a used machine which is at my house. She was working on a quilt yesterday and everything seemed to go well until the bobbin ran out. She put in another pre-wound bobbin of the same color as she had been using, and then started having tension problems and thread breakages. This also happened to me when we were first doing a practice quilt -- put in a new bobbin when old one ran out and tension problems. Any suggestions what we could be doing wrong? Pre-wound bobbin was a Superior in pink. Could be 2 - 2 1/2 years old max as women had machine only 2 years. Th
  2. Judy, I am very new with a friend's used Freedom SR and have played with machine 1 day. Did take a quick class on an HQ16 a few months ago, so kind of remember loading quilt tops. I am confused about how you float your quilt. You said "When you float a top, you dont pin all three layers to the take up roller. you pin the backing to the feeder and take up roller and then pin the top to the feeder.." When you pin the top to the feeder, does that mean the "roller" closest to your abdomen if standing at front of machine head, or what manual referred to as "#3, Quilt Back" or is it roller "
  3. If one sews bias tape to their zippered leaders to attach quilt tops to, would the bias tape not get stretched and pulled off grain, possibly making the quilt top "skewed" or cattywampus when rolled up to be quilted? Hate to sound stupid, but I have just finished taking my first year of fashion design classes including draping and flat pattern making, and it has been told to me repeatedly to be careful when handling fabric on the bias as it stretches (and have had to redrape a piece -- even small -- as it was overworked) so would the bias tape stretch as well as it is made to stretch in orde
  4. Can you tell me where I can find instructions or a specific video about loading a quilt top on a Freedom using zipper leaders and not pins? I looked at the training video today that came with the machine and it did not seem to address this. Do I need to go to the website for the company that makes zippered leaders, and would they address specific machines like APQS vs Gammill, etc? Thanks in advance!
