LibbyG got a reaction from dianne31331 in HONOR ABIDES HERE
The Bedford Historical Society asked our guild to make them a raffle quilt for 2017.  I've always wanted to make this quilt since I saw it in McCalls Quilting Magazine a number of years ago.  I used Hobbs 80/20 batting, So Fine on top and Bottom Line in the bobbin.  I added an extra row to the top and side of the pattern so it would be queen size.  It won 2 First Place Awards, a Second Place and best longarm machine quilting in 3 different area quilt shows.
Only one judge said she saw shadowing.  I did try to press seams open, but it was easier to sew nine patches ironing to one side.  How do you try to prevent shadowing?

Bedford Springs, a pattern by Wendy Sheppard, using Mary Koval's Simply Red fabric line, was pieced by a customer of mine.  She added the inner red border and the corner stones in the outer border.  The original pattern does not have an inner border.  So Fine on top and Bottom Line in the bobbin.  Hobbs 80/20. She wanted feathers and stippling around the inside of the red border.

Watch out for the sticky lettering on some of the shirts.  They would gum my needle and then I'd throw the needle away.  But, Barb Mayfield said she just cleans hers in alcohol and reuses it.  I have better success with a 4.5 needle with my Millenium.

I just finished this quilt.  She didn't want any quilting in the applique and McT around it.  I used Dream select and Dream Wool, So Fine on top and BL in the bottom.

Quick rail fence for a gift.  I stewed and stewed on the dark, really thought it would show the "rails"..., but no, the light won out.  The whole color/contrast thing still stumps/surprises me.  Stipple and machine binding.

I usually google the name of the quilt and hope some quilters have posted pictures of their finished work. I always like the look of quilting 1/4 of an inch around the piece to set them off.  Maybe you could put a piece of plastic over it and try that, then something may pop into your mind.

My customer makes these quilts for her grandchildren.  You may remember LUKE , ETHANBURG and MAGGIE TOWN.  Jack loves books so she's cut out characters from material.  So Fine on top, Bottom Line in the bobbin.  Hobbs 80/20.

Memory Lane is a pattern by Deborah Borsos and Leslee Price.  It was pieced for a grandaughter.  She had 60 yoyos so she wanted a light custom.  I did "funky hearts" because perfect ones were too difficult.  So Fine on top and Bottom Line in the bobbin.  Hobbs 80/20.

My customer pieced this using scraps from her stash.  She gave me a quilting design she found online.  I'd give credit to the quilter, if I knew who designed it.  The borders weren't showing so I used feathers and beadboard.  She used a 1/4 inch inner border and asked me to keep it straight.  Fortunately it was only a lap quilt.  I used So Fine and Bottom Line, my favorite threads when custom quilting.  And Hobbs 80/20.  DeLoa Jones' boomerang really came in handy to circle around the dresden plates.
