I agree with Sue. Try changing the table height. Maybe up, maybe down. It might be easier to tell which direction to go my raising or lowering yourself LOL. Good luck. Jim

Hard to free motion on Millie
jimerickson replied to Ctmax's topic in Millennium and Freedom Quilting Machines
Another thought. Are your wheels properly adjusted. The linear bearings on the Bliss rails only work on horizontal movement, and since you've used it mostly with robotics, the vertical movement may have become impaired over time with poor wheel adjustment. With Bliss, I think a lot of folks think their wheel issues no longer require attention. Good luck. Jim -
I think these were built on a commercial Singer 96 platform. Details on for the 96 should at least, get you started with the machine. Good luck. Jim

Frustrated……
jimerickson replied to Livin_the_dream's topic in Ask The Expert - How Should I Quilt This...?
Diagonal is the most difficult. Just keep practicing, and don't be too critical of your results. As to tension, tighten the top tension until the bobbin thread is pulled to the top, then loosen it until you get a balanced stitch. Remember, tension will vary somewhat depending on which way the machine is moving, and stitches per inch. (more stitches - tighter tension, fewer stitches - looser tension) Hang in there and keep practicing. Good luck. Jim -
QBot Version 1.31 For Sale NEW
jimerickson replied to JWar's topic in For Sale - Used Quilting Machines
What table/machine is this robot designed for? I see the box says "inspira" and I'd guess it was intended for an inspria table, but that's only a guess. Tnanks. Jim -
APQS with Compu-quiter
jimerickson replied to Quilt Patch's topic in Gone Quilting...Chat About Anything
You might try personal messaging member Zeke. He seemed to be the Compu-Quilter expert. He hasn't posted in a long time, so I don't know whether he visits the site often or not. Hope you get an answer. Jim -
Wide quilt and quilt path will not fill it

Pam: You might want to post this in the Quilt Path forum here. May get more attention from knowledge folks. Good luck. Jim -
APQS George for sale - SOLD 12/5/21
jimerickson replied to scaseyquilts's topic in George Quilting Machine
Julia: You can personal message here, and that might be the best way to contact her. An e-mail will go directly to her, and she won't have to check here to see that you have a question. Good luck. Jim -
I've made one off brakes for my Ult 2, and use bathtub non-slip strips for both the brake and the roller. Works pretty well for me. The strips have adhesive backs and stick right on. Like I said, my brakes are of my own design, and maybe the Lenni brake system won't permit this material. Worth considering though. Good luck. Jim

I usually use my finger nail like Sue suggested. It's pretty easy to feel loose stitches, or at least anything that feels unusual will alert you that something might not be right, then you can go to the trouble of actually looking at them. I have a bobbin camera, but could never really tell if the stitches were good or not looking at it, so now I just feel with my finger. Good luck. Jim

Don't know what you mean by "knocking", but if it's a kind of popping sound, could be a bad needle. If it's a metallic click, the hook could be hitting the needle too hard. A couple of thoughts for you. When you find the problem be sure to let us know. Might help someone else in the future. Good luck. Jim

Tammie: I think you will probably need to buy a Bliss rail and have it cut down and fitted to your 7' table. I doubt that APQS stocks 7' Bliss rails. Jim

Bobbin winder problem
jimerickson replied to Michael L Smith's topic in Gone Quilting...Chat About Anything
Singer didn't make different bobbins for the Featherweights. If you look closely, you'll see there is a slot cut in the bobbin holder. This slot can be made wider or narrower, by either spreading the shaft. or squeezing it. If bobbins won't go on the shaft you need to squeeze it, if they slip, you need to spread it. Good luck. -
Nancymae: It might be helpful to list the price, and a more a detailed description of your machine, or better yet, photos. Jim

My friend has a Gammill. I helped her set it up, and I don't think it would be too difficult to adapt to APQS. I wasn't really suggesting the Q-Bot, just saying there are other robots out there to look into. Jim

Don't really know anything about "Sure Stitch", but your problem sounds like the horizontal encoder (if sure Stitch) has encoders) isn't turning properly. Check for thread wrapped around it, and make sure there is enough tension on it to make firm contact with whatever it rides on. Good luck. Jim

There are less expensive/capable systems like Q-Bot. Don't do as much, but don't cost so much. I have a friend who has one, and she loves it. Jim

Black table, vertical wheels
jimerickson replied to SueD's topic in Lenni and Lucey Quilting Machines
The vibration you're seeing during warm-up and cleaning is harmonic. If you change the speed, or more importantly the position of the machine, the vibration will change. Nothing to worry about. Jim -
Black table, vertical wheels
jimerickson replied to SueD's topic in Lenni and Lucey Quilting Machines
Sounds like everything is good. My Ult2 acted the same way before I replaced her wheels. However the new wheels fit your rails, by the looks of the "before" photos, they fit tighter than the OEM. You made a good choice. Jim -
Brother Quattro 6000D w/upgrades & EXTRAS
jimerickson replied to quiltinforever's topic in For Sale - Used Quilting Machines
Peggi: This posting is over 2 years old, and the seller hasn't visited the site in 6 months. I don't think you'll get a response, and I doubt if the machine is still for sale. Jim -
Black table, vertical wheels
jimerickson replied to SueD's topic in Lenni and Lucey Quilting Machines
Sue: I'm disappointed the wheels ride on the bottom of the wheel "V" rather than on the sides, but the real test is whether they are stable. Does Lenni wiggle at all when you move it? If it doesn't wiggle then they'll work fine. My guess is that even if there is some movement, it's under better control than it was with the OEM wheels. Jim
