I designed this jacket for a guild retreat. It is foundation pieced and then quilted with my long arm. It was very hard to keep the piecing precise as you sewed and flipped the strips! I will not try piecing a jacket this way again.
I am also sending it to Machne Quilting Today in a couple of weeks.

We were surprised here in Iowa when Liz up and moved to Texas. Liz was active in the Des Moines Quilters Guild which I joined a few years ago. We put on a yearly quilt show with the Des Moines AQS show. Imagine my surprise the first year I went to help hang quilts at the show and I heard this familiar low voice from the next aisle! It was Liz hanging quilts like a trooper. She is so friendly. We were sad to see her move so far away.

I finally figured out I had to delete some pictures from my settings. So are some new ones. They are sideways, maybe but they are there, I hope!
MQS now emails you that you have won something at the show. It could be an Honorable mention or Best of Show but they don't say what or how many ribbons. I am happy just to get the email and think yeah 1 ribbon!
So....awards ceremony, I have 3 entries. challenge Hollyhock Doll Picnic 1st place out of 12.

Next category Wearables, 5 entries including Brigit S who I really admire! My Goose jacket, 1st place!!
I figure I am done for my last quilt, Modern Migration. BUT there are only 3 quilts in the category and 2 ribbons. I am stunned to win 2nd place!
My entries arrived home today and I have never gotten such high marks from the judges at this show before. I am still walking on air! and deposited a check for $1,000! Just WOW!
I taught 1 class on how to enter, make, and improve competition garments. My students were amazing and enthusiastic. I just had fun teaching and sharing my garments from the worst to the best. MQS WAS GREAT!

Yes, I am sending 2 jackets and my Hollyhock Doll Picnic wall quilt. I made a play quilt for my granddaughters.
I usually do better with jackets than quilts at shows. We will see what the judges think! You just never know.

JenniferBernard reacted to Oma in sitting while quilting
I do almost 99% of my quilting sitting down.  I injured my back and my knee and I have arthritis so bad in both places now that I can't stand for more than a few minutes at a time.  I learned to sit down and do a lot of my quilting.  I have even learned to do my Circle Lord boards from the front.  It was difficult at first, but I had no other choice so I adapted my way of doing things.  I started off with numerous office chairs and sewing chairs then a tall engineering chair.  Then I bought a saddle chair.  They sort of worked, not ideal, but I made do with them.  This year I SPLURGED!  And I mean SPLURGED.  $1200 when all was said and done.  I bought a ErgoDepot chair.  I bought red leather and paid extra for the foot rest.  OMG!  It's heavenly.  My friends gasped and made fun of me at first, but after sitting on it they all agreed it was absolutely the best thing.  Go to the site and look at all the pictures and videos about it.  I can sit for quite a while.  I justified it by saying it cost about as much as the equipment would cost to be able to raise and lower my table so it was a wash.  I knew I had to do something to be able to continue quilting and this was the answer for me.  One of my most favorite purchases.  My Koala sewing and cutting tables are the tall ones so I can use it with those too and while ironing because it is so adjustable.

Sometimes all a baby quilt needs is a little fast free hand. The balloon fabric inspired me to make up a new free hand. After a little practice on paper, I just did it! My client and I loved it. The other free hand of flowers, leaves, spirals, and feathers is a favorite free hand that I do a lot because it is just so pretty.

JenniferBernard reacted to Cagey in Pig In A Blanket
I wanted to share/show off my "Pig In a Blanket" quilt.  I made it for my oldest daughter who recently graduated college.  I am proud of her, and wanted her have something special to remember the event.  She loves pigs for some reason and always wanted a mini-pig for a pet, so I figured I had to include it in her quilt.  She is our Valentine baby, so that is the reason for the wording around the heart in the bottom left corner.  It is my 8th quilt, I am rather happy how it turned out.

Can be believe I bought most of the red and white at Quilt Fest Jax about 12 years ago. Then found more fabric at my local quilt shop Lollipops and found the ruler and away I went. But it hung on the rod until last week to be quilted!  I'm so happy. 100% wool on top of 80/20.  Quilted with Quilt Path!!!!!  Thanks for looking!!!

Another customer quilt is done. She pieced this using gorgeous batiks. In the center of each block she asked me to quilt a hibiscus flower, a little hard to see with the fabrics. You can see it better in the picture of the back. I did piano key quilting in the border, circles in the skinny border, elongated diamonds in the purple sashing, continuous curves in the large printed triangles and the small cream triangles.
