  1. I was fortunate to be able to quilt Three of these baby Quilts for the same customer. She Used the Pattern Mommy and Me.

She used a white on White Fabric That had a 1" diamond grid printed on it for the Background in the center area as soon as I saw that that

I wanted to practice some grid work . I just went for it what do you think do you practice on customers quilts?

Hope you have a great Day.

I love this quilt and am in the process of making it.  Found that one yard of red seems to do it. My red triangles are sewn, as you suggested (still to be cut into the strips that will become chenille).

It looks like you might have quilted the white before adding the red “laces.”  Is that correct? How long did you cut your laces? Maybe 6”, and then shaped them into a V when sewing them down? Or two 3” strips?

Thanks so much! My grandson will love it! I’m using fleece for backing, with his favorite team (Red Sox).

Hi Marcia I am sure you have finished this project I have not been on the forum for quilt a while Yes I did mark the lines before I put it on the frame then quilted the entire back ground Then added the chenille to the lines I drew on the quilt I think the lines were about 4" in length. I would love to see your project

  3.  Cagey I am sure modern quilters love that elephant in those colors

I had to look past that and put my scrappy twist on it.

I love mixing different color prints together that people say don't go together and make something beautiful.

I have made an orange one for myself I shrunk it down in size to be able to display it where I want. He is on my long arm right now

He is bright and beautiful. I will post him soon.

  4. I just showed this one to my wife Beth. We are both amazed. I showed her the piecework first (which she does) and she said, "Wow." Then I scrolled up to show the finished piece, and he eyes got wide. Great job!

The problem with showing these projects on the net...you do not get to see the reaction they cause.

That is the most fun, seeing  the reaction these project make. I experienced this last year at our local quilt show They placed my house quilt on the end of the aisle and I could stand back and watch people as they turned the corner and actually stand behind them and listen to them talking to their friends and creap closer to the quilt inspecting . then they would say this quilter must be crazy, That is when I would say Yes I am and they would get whip lash to look at me and then the conversation began...The most fun I have had ever. I am hoping to experience that again with this Quilt. Thank-you for telling me your wife's reaction Eric.

  5. It's wonderful!  I've bought the pattern and I will start stashing my purples or reds or grays once I decide on a color.  They say imitation is the purest form of flattery and I want to imitate you.  You did a GREAT job and FAST!

Oma start with the main fabric in the trunk this is the most important piece. Find it then you will find your color. Hope that helps I think he van be stunning in any color

  6. Hello I am finally done (except binding) and ready to introduce Ellie and Squeak.

  7. There are several long armers in our guild so I do not blow my horn there. That being said my best advertising was doing charity quilts for the guild I always add a business card to the quilt when they are returned to the charity group, their is usually 10-14 quilters at their sew days and quilters talk. also the care group shows all the care quilts at our monthly meetings. they always mention who quilted it, this is free advertising for use donating our time. I have had several requests doing this. Hope some of this helps ...word of mouth is my best advertising.

Yes I put four layers  of red fabric 15" x 15" on top of each other then cut the stack in half diagonally

placed these red backing fabric on the long arm then sewed  parallel lines 1/2" a part   using my channel locks

(your parrel lines must be on the Bias) (attached a hand drawn picture)

then take off the long arm cut the strips apart between the sewn lines  now you have chenille by the inch to

apply to your quilt I placed on the top of the sandwich and sewed from the inside end out to the end then sewed back to the start

I hope this is clear as mud It worked for me and I will defiantly do this type of application again

  9. Just finished making a baseball quilt for my daughter. She is hosting a ball reunion this fall so I made a baseball quilt to raffle off to off set some costs. This was a fun project that I did mostly on the long arm sashed a plain fabric and marked the stitching line with a frixion pen then put on my Maxine my Millie and applied the chenille strips now for the secret to fluffing it up.......Take your shop vac and vacuumed the strip roughing I up with the end of nozzle and it looks amazing. Going to show my daughter tonight post-63431-0-23567100-1406728281_thumb.jpgpost-63431-0-82053700-1406728309_thumb.jpgpost-63431-0-98762500-1406728334_thumb.jpg
