Before I went computerized, I had a panto that was called Fireworks. I used it with a metallic thread on one of my QOV quilts.

Does anyone here buy from Marshall Dry Goods wholesale?

I currently use Quilter's Dream batting which I love - but a lot of my customers really like Hobbs 80/20.  I don't want to get tied into Checker because then I pretty much will be stuck buying everything from them to meet their minimums...and ordering directly from Hobbs there's a $300 minimum.  Just want to order a roll or two at a time every now and again and I see Marshall's offers it for a good price.

Can anyone here share their experience?  Also - minimum order requirements?  I will give them a call in the morning, but I thought I might get an answer here faster!  LOL!    Thanks!

Edited to Add - I actually went back and checked Hobbs website, so for anyone reading in the future I was wrong, it's not a $300 minimum it's a four roll minimum!

You can snip off a longer snapper into smaller pieces to help in lining up your quilt.  That was easy to do and I love being able to have extra rod sizes to fit my needs.

I have the Red Snappers , I much prefer them over the pins.  Tired of getting stuck every time I quilted.
They get easier to use with each quilt.

I would suggest shallow wavy lines across the quilt top to give the quilt some texture as it is very linear already.
This pictures will show you want I'm talking about and has a modern feel that you looking for.

Sherry is still quilting with us. We finished the pink quilt  this weekend out of the strips . She has added Blue to her list of quilt colors to do now. We  are all enjoying working on the quilts.  I believe the blue is the last one she has left.  My other sisters and Sherry should finish it this week. Sherry also has a doctors appt. in the morning. I hope things goes ok, but I am afraid she has picked up an infection the way she coughs and the noise that she makes just breathing.  It reminds me of a teapot rattling.  Her balance is very unsteady. When she got to my house Sat. We had to help her walk into the house. It was like slow motion walking. Like she was trying to remember which foot to use or how to do it. Today she seemed better with knowing what she  was doing or going to do.  We also completed 4 baby minky blankets also this weekend.
One of those is going to her neighbor she said, the other ones she said because she might see a baby that needs one " You know Connie babies like the feel of those blankets ".
There are times when we are talking and she will stop, close her eyes and she is asleep. Then she will wake up like nothing happened.
We have been blessed for having this time together as well as the APQS Quilt Warriors for helping us with these last quilting memories.
We had been told that she had 2 weeks left. Sherry is a fighter because she has exceeded that.
I ask her today ''ok what is on the list for your next one, she just said right now the blue is the only one for now. ''
I will send another update when she completes the blue one.
Thank you guys we would not of been able to do it with all your help.

    Connie,

I originally used the tutorial from this site (posted below).  If you have trouble getting it there let me know and I'll just send it to you.  I haven't changed this tutorial much.  I have some instructions where you just sew a straight line from the center of one edge to the center of the opposite edge so you end up with a *+* seam and then sew from corner to opposite corners so you also have a *X* seam instead of stippling or FMQ on the fabric.  I do both ways.  I always use the "Tater Batting" for my bowls then there is no guessing whether or not it's microwave safe.  Some of the girls here used regular batting, but you need to make sure it doesn't have glues or resins, etc.  Some of the girls here also put the fabric on their longarms and quilted it then cut the squares.  Great time saver if you are making a bunch out of the same fabric.  I don't usually make more than a couple of bowl holders of each fabric so I just do it on the DSM.

The first couple will seem like a bit of work then it just becomes fast and simple.  They are the NICEST gifts for people.  I have gotten so many thank yous and compliments.  These are great gifts by themselves, but if I want them to be special I will buy pretty bowls then go to my stash and find co-ordinating fabrics and I'm all set.  I buy my bowls at Pier 1 (can be spendy, but better with a coupon), Home Goods (great price with a fairly good selection) and any where else I come across pretty bowls at.

Oh Shana...you're so funny.  I left them on the counter so I could talk to them.  I'm waiting for them to tell me what they want to be.  I suppose I could mix up ½ a cake batter recipe.  That's funny just saying it.  Did I mention how small these little pans were?  They would make cute little cheese cakes.  I bought some cinnamon sticks and some sage leaves to make a "Chicken in milk" recipe of Jamie Oliver's.  That should be interesting.  I've never used cinnamon sticks or milk to roast chicken.  I am stepping outside my box here.  He's a great chef so who knows.  I'll be sure to let everyone know how it turns out.  I bought a Ninja 3-1 cooker and I am absolutely loving it.  It's a stove top, oven and slow cooker all in one.  It's truly a one pot meal.  I'm for anything that makes me want to cook and doesn't make a mess in the kitchen although my husband is wonderful at cleaning up the mess.  I tell people I have OCD and ADD.  Everything has to be really neat, but not for very long.

I am still sewing too.  I've made a bunch of microwave bowl holders to go with all the bowls I bought for Christmas gifts.  I've been quilting them on my DSM.  Not the most efficient way, but it's getting them done.  So cute.  I'll see if I can post a pic of some of the bowls and the ones I have left to do.  I have several quilts in process and two ready for borders and too many waiting to be quilted.

We went to Vegas last weekend so I could get our youngest daughter started on a quilt.  I told her to finish the top and come home and I'd teach her to quilt it on the Liberty.  She is really excited.  We ended up staying an extra day because we were enjoying our time with her.  It was one of our best visits ever.

I hope you're having a lazy and relaxing autumn.

Beautiful work as always Dell!  This is from this Thursday but 2 weeks ago I think.  This is our guilds raffle quilt.  It was fun to quilt but took longer than I thought it would.  I hope it brings in some good dollars!  The blocks were pieced by guild members, one person put the whole thing together, I quilted it and Charlotte (CBowser) did the binding.  Charlotte is the best binder around!  The quilt was 105" sq!!!!  Thanks for looking and pardon the foot!

I made this block today. Its part of a project I've been working on since tuesday. I spent Tuesday in a class taught by Jacquie Gering. It was the most fun I've ever had in a class....ever! She's great! You can see the progression on my blog.

Even though it's not finished I will share. I am still working on this one.  I'm trying to figure out about adding corners or leaving it octagon shaped.  I drew these flying geese corners after seeing all the glacier stars lately, but I'm not sure I like them.  What do you think?
