Happy Monday how did your Panto work this week-end?

I can only dream of bliss! Did you have it done in the USA or did your dealer do it for you? I am not clear about the process involved In the conversion.
But it is good to hear that you saw an improvement with the M&Ms... square circles describes my situation pretty well! I have some good circles, but not consistently. Not by a long shot. I think m&m will be my next purchase, once I have my C.L. goodies paid for first. My logic: the boards give consistent and smooth results. I could do the wheels first, but then I am still doing free motion and subject to whoopses and inconsitencies. C.L. should offer a jumpstart to professional results right out of the box without changing anything else (judging by the results from my R&S board so far). Or at least I am hoping and praying it will! I should know in a few weeks if I am correct or a fool!

When destiny calls, you do well to listen! It is very heart warming to hear stories like yours and I think you have earned your success with hard work and (from the little I know of you) with a great character and attitude. We can't help but respond positively to good people! Enjoy the rewards! You reap what you sow/sew :-)
So, I did some more pantos using a smaller, more detailed one and ... uuurrrgh! I am so not happy with the results. Music, pinky finger out, but no wine as I still have to drive this afternoon. I think it is time to get new wheels and see if that makes a difference... these are still from 2001, so past due for a change. There are definitely consistent issues with jogging at the same points of movememt. I draw and paint well so it should not be a lack of hand-eye coordination. Or at least I hope not Or i am deluding myself! My free motion turns out satisfactorily to me but I think it helps to get direct feedback by being on the same side of the machine as the quilt top. Yes, I quickly figured out a few years ago with my old Grace setup about those rail tracks if I didn't pause at the points! I unsewed a lot! But, until I get new wheels I will still persist with the panto practice. Worst case scenario is that I learn a lot as a result of working with harder wheels... might make me a better quilter in the long run.
Jim, on this forum, recommends edgerider wheels. Have you heard of them, or used them, or have an opinion on them? I know of the APQS M&M wheels of course, but didn't know I had options available.
Anyway, I hope the sun is shining in your part of paradise. Have a great afternoon!

Hi Terry!
I looked up Purple Katz last night on FB and saw all your collages. They are gorgeous! I had no idea that could even be done... and never heard of the fabrics you are using. So much out there to learn about! It looks like a super popular idea, given how many folks want to learn about it. I cant blame them cos if i lived in AB i would so want in on a lesson aswell.
Your houses quilt is amazing (have I told you that already?) And such an honor to get on the cover of the magazine (you had mentioned it in your phone call, but now that I have seen it with my own eyes it has become real for me). Dreams come true?! Your years of hard work and perseverance have paid off. I am thrilled for you!

Happy, happy birthday to you! I haven't been on Face Book today so I was none the wiser! Enjoy your day with the grand kids and feast on cake with relish!
Doesn't seem like a good day to talk quilting, so I will write again another day. Have a blast and I hope you are spoiled rotten with love and laughter!

Hey, Terry!
I committed a cone of yellow thread to to the pantograph effort and gave it a good work out yesterday afternoon. Plenty of thread there to get this panto thing smartened up. Starting to look much better! It requires a lot more concentration than the boards, that is for sure. I have figured out that I have to go pretty fast from one point to the next to get the machine going in smooth curves... but at least I have that figured out now!
On to a smaller and more detailed pantograph to see how that goes.
Hope your day is going well and you get to spend some of it behind a sewing or quilting machine too!

I hauled out the last panto sandwich I did to review where I am at... it looks better than I remembered... not great (squared off rounded parts), but better than I thought . I just took some pictures of the backing to keep track of progress, since the front has patterned fabric. I have it now loaded on my table again (a good push really works wonders for trying to conquer fears; thanks for the coaching, Terry) and will try again over the same top with a different color thread like another lady on the forum suggested. Determination and persistence should yield some results. I will send an updated view in a while. For better or worse!

Good Monday to you too! Well, I had a glass of wine...
And then sewed some binding on by hand...
And then did some piecing of a quilt I have in progress...
And then fished out batting...
And then pulled some fabric choices for a new quilt...
And then I was exhausted by all that procrastination and avoidance of the scariest part of quilting called pantos so i went to bed! Saturday and Sunday didn't involve any wine but also didn't involve pantos either.
Sad, but true... I hate admitting to all this.
How did your teaching go?
