  5. Is it okay that I'm a Gammill owner on here? This forum is incredible and I'm hoping there are other Gammill owners on here! Kim
  6. I have a new demo Millie and am using the BottomLine prewound Superbobs. I have noticed with my TOWA gauge some of them have a higher tension reading than others. Do you adjust your bobbin tension to work with it or consider these "bad?" I run mine between 170-200 which is what Superior suggests on their handy chart. Just curious what others do . Thanks in advance! Kim
  7. Thank you Jim. I've been ready to either pull my hair out or throw her out the window hahaha! I'll keep you updated.
  8. I'm just sewing on a regular cotton top and backing. My batting is 80/20. Using a 4.0 needle. And yes I totally agree I may be getting too critical and need to relax. I don't quilt for shows or magazines. Just want nice stitches! I have a cone of the YLI you suggested and a SuperBOB on the way. I guess I'm just too used to the nice stitches my Gammill makes.
  9. Okay so I've been playing with the tension, and the top seems to be okay now but there's a little flatlining in the back mostly in curves or going from right to left. Jim I'm going to take your suggestion and order a cone of the YLI and some bottom line bobbins. I'm beyond frustrated. I don't feel like I'm getting anywhere. I'll keep trying but if I fix the top it messes up the bottom and vice versa.
  10. Hi Lin: I decided to order a TOWA gauge today. Hopefully this will help. I am determined to figure this out but it's extremely frustrating! My thread goes through the 1st and 3rd holes right now so I think we're the same? .
  11. Yes the magna glide is in correctly but sometimes I miss the obvious so good question . And I do know stitch length does affect the tension. My rep also just recommended bottom line in my bobbin. I'm doing my best to hang in there, it's just super frustrating I can't get this right. Kim
  12. Jim: ordering one this evening! They do accommodate the pigtail cases. Looking at YLI now. Do you use the Superbobs in the bobbin? I see they are Bottom Line. So you do not suggest maybe using So Fine 50 top and bottom?
  13. It was better after the rep came out, they just loosened my top tension. I cleaned out the bobbin area and put the new bobbin in and now I'm back to the flatlining on the front. Of course it was perfect when the reps were here and put their magic hands on it
  14. Hi Jim! Thank you so much! That is very helpful advice. I have an M bobbin with a pigtail. Will that fit in a towa gauge?
  15. Thanks Cagey. Which thread would you use? Permacore or the so fine magna glide bob combo?
  16. The bobbins go in the same way as the Gammill. What is your thread path for the so fine? I'm using so fine on top and magna glide in the bobbin.
  17. I just had to replace my sensor too in my new demo Millie. Works great now. Covered under warranty.
  18. Hi Susan, I am in the same boat with my new Millie. I completely understand your frustrations and thanks everyone for encouraging us! I have had tension issues as well, first I was having flatlining on the back, now I'm having flatlining on the front. I've been So Fine 50 on top and magna glide prewounds in the bobbin. My back stitches are beautiful, it's just the top frontlning. My rep even came out today to take a look and of course it worked great for her but I did learn some things. After I changed a bobbin, it went back to flatlining. I am so extremely frustrated especially since I do this as a business. I also have a 16 yr old Gammill that is my workhorse but this seems to be a completely different animal. I'm trying not to lose my patience totally but it's close to happening. Reading above that I'm not the only one that has had these issues makes me feel better. I guess I just wasn't expecting the big learning curve since I've been doing this so long and that threw me. I really, really want to be friends with my Millie but she's resisting me! I guess I just need to keep trying to figure her out and find out what makes her happy. I hope she tells me soon because she's exhausting me! Kim
