  1. I have an old (1993)u Ultimate one that I bought second hand. There was no manual. I simply took good notes when I saw her set up and reproduced how it was in the other lady’s house. She stitches well and I’ve quilted two quilts on her. Not perfect by any means, but acceptable. However…I’ve never got her to ride easy and she takes a lot of work to move around. MUCH more than anything I’ve seen at a show. I’m able only to do simple lines with any accuracy. I’m on a crusade to make her as smooth and easy as possible. (Can’t afford a Bliss at this point.) Today I learned that the table is meant to have a truss strap, and trusses! Imagine my surprise when I realized I’m actually missing pieces! I have what I THINK are M and M wheels, but with locking nuts, not the cam nuts. Could the lack of the strap and trusses be at least part of the problem? I’d like Big Bertha to fly across the table! Any advice appreciated.

Sarah:  Nigel Wells is who you should ask about your Ult 1.  He had the same exact set up for years.  Probably knows more about them than almost anyone else.  He posts here often under his wife's account (Brenda Wells).  PM him, and I'm sure he'll help you out.  If there's anything more I can do, let me know.  Jim

Don't know whether this message got sent or not.  Just looked, and Nigel's ID here is: RunningThreads.  Jim

  4. Hi everyone, I have an old Ultimate 1 and live in Scotland. I would Like to use rulers on it but the foot isn’t the right one. Somewhere I have a distant memory of a kit I could use to install one. Im going to be in the States soon and I want to bring a kit home with me. Can I get a link to the kit and installation instructions? ( And timing instructions too?) I can’t seem to find it now. Thanks!
  5. Hi, this is Abercroft. I did send my machine to Nolting as the local installer seemed to disappear. It was four years again and I’m sorry but I don’t remember how much shipping was from Vancouver Canada, to Iowa and back again, but it wasn’t nearly as much as I thought it would be. They installed the regulator and sent it back, took about two- three weeks. Machine works great, I had no problems whatsoever. I brought my machine to Scotland with me when I moved here, three years ago. I use it with a transformer I got off of eBay to switch the electrical power from the UK 220v to the US 110v. I have had no problems at all. It was impression that Nolting will no longer retrofit machines. Seems I slid in right under the rail and got one of the last ones they did.
  6. I know this thread is long since past it’s prime…. but I too, have an Ultimate one and would like to use rulers. I have a little plastic thingy (technical term) that fits over the original foot and it works OK. But I’d really like to be able to change the feet and have that APQS quality. I live in Scotland now, so I won’t be shipping “Big Bertha” anywhere, but I would like to see the instructions for the switch. I’d like to read them over before I decide if I’m brave enough to try. How do I get a hold of the instruction, and parts? And I DO have Intellistiych on my machine, if that makes any difference… Dawn, is there anyone in Scotland that you know of that could do this for me??? Thanks everyone! sarah
