  1. Hi, this is Abercroft. I did send my machine to Nolting as the local installer seemed to disappear. It was four years again and I’m sorry but I don’t remember how much shipping was from Vancouver Canada, to Iowa and back again, but it wasn’t nearly as much as I thought it would be. They installed the regulator and sent it back, took about two- three weeks. Machine works great, I had no problems whatsoever. I brought my machine to Scotland with me when I moved here, three years ago. I use it with a transformer I got off of eBay to switch the electrical power from the UK 220v to the US 110v. I have had no problems at all. It was impression that Nolting will no longer retrofit machines. Seems I slid in right under the rail and got one of the last ones they did.
  2. I know this thread is long since past it’s prime…. but I too, have an Ultimate one and would like to use rulers. I have a little plastic thingy (technical term) that fits over the original foot and it works OK. But I’d really like to be able to change the feet and have that APQS quality. I live in Scotland now, so I won’t be shipping “Big Bertha” anywhere, but I would like to see the instructions for the switch. I’d like to read them over before I decide if I’m brave enough to try. How do I get a hold of the instruction, and parts? And I DO have Intellistiych on my machine, if that makes any difference… Dawn, is there anyone in Scotland that you know of that could do this for me??? Thanks everyone! sarah
  3. Awesome, thanks! I knew I could count on you guys.
  4. Anybody know what this is and where it goes? (Left, bottom in the photo). It’s leaf thin and popped out when I was placing the bobbin case with a new bobbin back in my Ultimate 1 machine. I can’t find the equivelant on my domestic machine. Anyone know how to get it back where it belongs? thanks!
  5. I'm looking to buy more L bobbins for my Ultimate 1. My machine was built in 1993, and the bobbin entry says the bobbins are for machines with "Smart technology". Will these work in the old machine? I thought I'd check before I buy 20 of them....
  6. Thank you Busy... that's exactly what I needed to hear. After close inspection, only one of my wheels is adjusted so that the lip of the table is hanging on the top groove of the wheel. Ill get my husband to adjust the others. You guys are great!
  7. Would one expect an older machine to glide as easily as the newer ones if the set up were correct?
  8. Thanks for both replies. Jim, those horizontal wheels, as I look at them, two on the back of the carriage have the edge of the rail completely filling the groove on the wheel. It looks pretty tight against the inside of the groove. In the other two, (in front) the edge is not snug on the inside of the groove, and the wheel seems to be almost hanging on the inside top of the wheel. can you picture what I mean?
  9. I have an old, 1993, Ultimate 1. I just had Intellistitch put on. I've not really used the machine as yet, and it's my first longarm machine. So I really don't know how it should handle, although I have played with new machines at shows. It has M and M wheels that the previous owner told me were only a year old. She did not use the machine hardly at all due to health problems. So the wheels should be pretty good, so she said. To me, the machine seems difficult to move around. Not at all smooth like at the shows. The machine and frame are level, but on Berber type carpet. Rails and wheels are cleaned with isopropyl alcohol. The machine does not travel but maybe halfway down the frame when given a good push like they say it should. I'm about to start quilting my first longarm quilt and I'm concerned my machine isn't ready...... Questions: Is the handling because it's an old, heavy machine compared to the newer ones at the shows? Could the wheels need replacing? How do I tell by visual inspection? All of them, some of them? Are there adjustments I might do to the wheels to make the machine move better? What are those adjustments? I can't afford a Bliss system. Is there anything else I can do? Thanks for any and all advice. I've been sewing and quilting for ages, but this is my first foray into long arms. sarah
  10. My Ultimate 1 has a serial number of 671. Anyone know the year she was made? thanks!
  11. Thank you everyone. I've contacted Nolting and arranged for them to do up my Ultimate 1. i can't wait!
  12. Thank you!Yes, it's Brian Hicks. We've been in contact for almost a year, and this is not like him..... the Intellistitch people aren't responding either. It's been a month now. Can you tell me how to get in touch with the Nolting people? Thank you

  14. Hi everyone! ive been in contact with a man in Washington who installs Intellistitch. I have heard from him as recently as the 20th of May. He told me he had had trouble connecting with the Intellistitch factory but he managed to get through and they should have parts to ship by the end of May. However, I'm ready to get my machine to him, yet he's not responding to my emails. I'm flommoxed. Anyone heard anything? I'm getting concerned that something bad has happened.
  15. I really like those frames. But I decided to save money by going the used route. If it had been cheaper I might have bought that frame.
  16. Looking for opinions : Ultimate 1. My first machine. Runs great, good tension, etc. But would like to upgrade a bit. Should I be thinking about the stitch regulation, or bliss? If you had to choose, which would it be?
  17. One question....I'm looking on the Internet: These are two separate pieces, yes? And the uprights that came with the machine are still there? It looks like the extenders are installed underneath the original ones. Do you know the brand of the ones you used.? They look wonderful.
  18. I'm so there... Thanks that's a great idea, especially the drink holder!
  19. Which way should I be turning the fly wheel to take a single stitch? It's set in the machine in such a way that counterclockwise could be either way. Thanks?
  20. Can you put anyone's handles on a machine if you can get them to fit?
  21. I've just bought an Ultimate 1 machine and am looking to update her, she's my first machine, probably my last. I've looked into Intellistitch, and bliss, now I need some advice on handles. I'm planning in installing those micro handles, but the machine now has the older upright handles. I wonder if anyone can give me advice about what handles are the best, in terms of control and visibility? ( and where I can get them?) Inquiring minds want to know! Thanks!
  22. Thanks, Z. I will. I'm not sure if they should be replaced or how old they are. I'm not close to getting a bliss so I will have to make due. But it's something for the future.... Anyone know how much Intellistitch is for my machine?
