Ma Hawkins reacted to JenniferBernard in French Braid Jacket done (at last)
I designed this jacket for a guild retreat. It is foundation pieced and then quilted with my long arm. It was very hard to keep the piecing precise as you sewed and flipped the strips! I will not try piecing a jacket this way again.
I am also sending it to Machne Quilting Today in a couple of weeks.

Here is Chris's Minnion quilt. Panels can be a quick quilt and look great with some interesting quilting to enhance the panel. The Back she chose the perfect Orange Minkie ,so soft and cuddly. Hope you enjoy

Ma Hawkins reacted to T Row Studio in Dandelion Quilt-very modern
Hi here is the last one off the frame. I do not get very modern quilts in these parts but this one is leaning that direction.
All I think it needed was straight line quilting. so that is what I did What do you think.

Ma Hawkins reacted to Lemon Tree Tami in Quilt for Pulse ... hearts quilt
I've had the pleasure of quilting a charity quilt top that will be sent to the Orlando Modern Quilt Guild to hand out to the survivors, victims' families and first responders from this summer's terrorist attack in Florida. The request was for rainbow colored hearts so I jumped for joy when I discovered this perfect digital e2e design by Keryn Emmerson called Rainbow Hearts. It also stitched out beautifully and will be used again. I pieced the backing from two Northcott cheater panels with a solid blue.

Ma Hawkins reacted to T Row Studio in Needle turn applique Masterpiece
Hello this is a needle turn applique piece my customer wanted me to finish for her she requested
to SID around all the sashing pieces as well around the applique. add a curvey design in the blocks
around the applique and add a feather border. This piece is 50"x 50" and took me 10 hours to freehand long arm quilt it.
Thanks for looking and have a great Wed.

Ma Hawkins reacted to Little House Creations in Finally quilted my "Swoon"
I finally put my Swoon quilt (Thimble Blossoms) on Freeda - my most ambitious quilting to date  Continuous Curves in the swoon block; Curved crosshatching and feathers in white areas . . . I used the leftovers from making all those HSTs to make a pinwheel border.  I used two layers of batting - Hobbs Wool on top; Hobbs 80/20 underneath; Glide thread; Lisa Calle's ProEcho Rulers.

Ma Hawkins reacted to bttyboopette in Wedding quilt is done, 'cept for binding
and boy am I cutting it close. the wedding is this saturday, the 16th!!    I will be doing the binding with my machine, which, bums me out a little bit. I pride myself in the whip-stitching on the back when I finish, but I just don't have time. (people would ask how long the binding took and I would say.......oh, ummmmmm, 6 movies worth, really, I can sit there for days just stitching away but my body just can't take it, lol)  I've made the binding with the small flange of a different color, brown binding with the blue as a flange. I can safely say, feathers are my friend!

Ma Hawkins reacted to T Row Studio in Large day and night quilt done
Here is the large version of Kay's Day and Night  quilt. She added some large borders to the top and bottom of her quilt, this did add some fullness that I needed to deal with. I was able to to use my steamer to shrink up a good portion of this fullness before I quilted it. The large white areas were a challenge for me. It took me a long time to figure out how to divide and conqueror them . I am please with how they turned out and she was thrilled. Thanks for looking.

This was made by Jenna's mom, Mary. Mary passed away last month and was co-owner of our local quilt shop. I was blessed by quiling it for Jenna. Panto is sugar skulls by Patricia Ritter and thread is Glide Slate.

Just finished this wedding quilt for the daughter of a good friend. Unfortunately I cannot custom quilt (yet) like so many of you can do, and do so well!
I hope this encourages other beginners!  It was so nice not to have tension issues...I think pre-wound bobbins are my friends.

Ma Hawkins reacted to T Row Studio in french braid quilt
Here is the french braid quilt finished. a light custom on this one. Chris did a great job piecing this bright beauty I love Black and White quilts and the lime just sets it off. I did include a before and after quilting shot as well as a shot of the back. the back is black fireside but when you photograph it it turns grey- go figure
    Have a great day

Ma Hawkins reacted to T Row Studio in another ice dyed piece transformed
I attended our guild retreat this week-end and showed the ladies how to Ice Dye this is what they created. We had so much fun
.I took my piece and quilted it. I extended the design elements of the ice dyed piece into the large borders. I used the new superior thread Omni Varigated thread called Harlequin. the runner started out 14" x 56" now with the shirt weight denim borders it is 48" x 77"  I will be able to use it as a summer throw or a table cloth for our large table and enjoy it.

Ma Hawkins reacted to I dew quilting in A Memory Quilt for Ms Alice
Finished a memory quilt for Ms Alice's granddaughter.  The tree is made from Ms Alice's shirts.  I still need to soak the markings, block and bind but the quilting is finished.  Ms Alice loved roses and received a rose bush each Mother's Day.  I used two layers of batting, 80/20 on the bottom and QD poly on top.  Glide thread.  It is 40x40 and will be framed.  All quilting is free hand on my Millie.
