Bobbiesue posted a topic in Ask The Expert - Piecing, Batting, Fabric
I am quilt for a gal that is wanting to use 2 layers of warm & natural, need to know pros/cons. Do I need to adjust to a longer stitch length so that it does not create a tightness and cause it to pucker? All opinions welcome TIA, Diane on a Millie -

Ruffle on Christmas Tree Skirt - Need Suggestions
Bobbiesue posted a topic in Gone Quilting...Chat About Anything
All suggestions on how to do this is appreciated! I have just finished the top for a new Christmas tree skirt. I want to put in on the longarm to quilt it (of course, isn't that why I bought it?). I want to put a ruffle on the bottom of it and I want the ruffle to be between the layers or something so that it looks 'finished', but I can't think of a way to do that, for some reason I can't come up with a solution on how to accomplish this. I am sure there is a SIMPLE answer on how to do this. Any suggestions on how to do this would be appreciated. My thinking cap is thunk out........ Photo is attached to this post, the red circle is the new top, the other photo is of my old tree skirt that I quilted about 30 years ago on my domestic sewing machine, the ruffle was attached to the top, then the back attached, turned inside out after stitching the seams........pre-longarm! TIA, BobbieSue -

Thanks everyone!!! My free handing is getting better with every quilt. Here is what I have painfully experienced........just because a thread color is a great choice does not always mean it is the right thread to use if you are free handing. You have to be able to see the thread to know where you need to go ahead of where you are at and that means all colors that are used in the top.....................this is what I call 'advance preparation' it is the same when playing the piano...you have to be able to read the music ahead to prepare for where you need to go........ Quilt tops are my creative canvas which I love to do free hand!!!! -

Photos of 3 quilts that I just finished for 2 gals at Ft Leavenworth KS. They are both beginners and did a great job on their tops and I quilted them for free for them. Two have already shipped back to them and the last one will be in the mail tomorrow. I also did labels for them and Michelle's start quilt is her very first quilt. Andrea's Star Quilt was her second. Enjoy!!
