meg_marsh
I have to stitch on the binding of a quilt (actually 2) and lo and behold I don't have a matching thread for attaching the binding in my stash of thread. Does anyone use either bottom line or so fine to attach bindings? I have the right color in both of these threads. I hate to take an hour to run to the LQS just for one spool of thread plus I have to get another quilt done today!! Thanks
Just Sew Simple
Yes, I often use these to attach bindings. It is never a problem.

Quilting Heidi
Meg, I've used both without any problems!
Bonnie
For binding that are going to be hand finished on the back I use WHATEVER is in the machine to attach it with....you aren't going to see if from the top and the binding will be pulled over the line in the back so you can't see it there either.... But for bindings that I attach, and then finish from the top (by the SID method) then I use those you mentioned and yesterday I even used a spool of Master Piece. KerryM
Bonnie, what is the SID method from the top for bingings? Is this on your LA, or DM? Or am I misunderstnading Meg's question all together! Can you do binding on the LA? Inquiring minds nees to know!
Bonnie
Some do it on the LongArm...haven't tried that yet, but mine is on my DSM. Here are some pictures of yesterdays projecct [/img] You just catch the back .... I use Barb's glue method to hold it in place.
ffq-lar
(Lovely quilting Bonnie! Now we need a DVD on your binding technique!! No pressure, my friend!) When I finish a quilt using BL in the bobbin, I offer the last partial bobbin (I use pre-wounds) to the customer to use for binding. It works wonderfully--it has a nice hard twist, is almost invisible, and they are usually appreciative of the gesture. One local applique club member now swears by BL for some of her applique projects!
Boni
I don't see a problem with a different type of thread and the color would only matter if there was a transparency issue, i.e. black showing through white fabric, etc. I've always tried to match the thread to the backing, if that's any help. meg_marsh
Thanks again & the binding is on - will do the hand stitching tonight. Don't know why I didn't start doing this before.
