Oiling a Singer Featherlight

Recommended Posts

I need some help from all those Singer owners out there: I'm cleaning a Featherlight for a friend - gotten out all those dust bunnies and cleaned it up nice, but I've never had a sewing machine that needed oiling, so I don't know if/where to oil this machine. I'm pretty sure it needs it somewhere....

Can anybody give me a general guideline?

Thank you, ladies! I knew I could probably google general instructions, but there are so many Featherweight owners on this chat - and we're always so fast in responding! - that this just seemed the best forum for answers.

Bonnie already called me and walked me through all the oiling holes - and whether or not to add grease to the gears - gave me all the confidence I needed to take this baby apart and put her back together again.

Bonnie - you wouldn't believe the mat of lint I took out from under the needle plate! I'm gonna have to have some strong words with my friend about treating her machine better in the future!:P

And tell her that the next time she lets it get this bad you are just going to keep the little puppy. If she can't take better care of it....the little puppy will come live at your house.....:P;) She needs to feed and take better care of it, that is for sure....
