I get to White Glove on Thursday morning and will be a "Teacher's Angel" on Monday night and help out during a class. I just emailed Jackie my list of classes and she let me know what was available and asked if I wanted to help-out.

I am also looking forward to do some quilting in the charity booths that will be set-up. Had an email about that the other day.....

Ok, it's also my first time at MQS. I insanely signed up for 4 days worth of classes with not much of a break. I expect my brain to be very mushy by the end. Anyway, I was wondering what I am supposed to bring for the classes. I can't figure it out from the class descriptions. Any suggestions? I'm finally starting to get excited about going! Yay!!!:D

Bring comfy shoes, drawing tablet, several pencils, pens, sharpen if using pencils. I took colored pencils last year and loved that I had them. Bring a sweater or similar as the classrooms are not always warm. You might want to consider bringing a camera and extra batteries. And please, leave your cologne at home.

Mary Lou, Re: Banquet tickets for Fri.

Check on the site, www.imqa.org click on MQS, then on the activities.

I dont know if you can still purchase fri. nites tickets on line or not. If not, you can purchase them the night of the banquet, or maybe even when you first arrive! Ask at one of the booth's when you first come in to get your MQS bag, etc.

fftoreality: Depending on what your classes are (is what supplies you will need.)

Do you have an MQS 2009 Classes & Events catalogue? In there, it lists what to bring to ea. class.

Most is just as linda described above.

However, if your taking a "hands on" class, you may need small scissors etc.

If painting class, you may need old clothes, threads, rotary cutter, mat, etc.

If wholecloth, you may need water soluable marker, 60 x 60 plain fabric, etc.

Oh I wish I had remembered this a month ago. Last year I emailed the teachers of the classes I registered for. Out of six classes, five emailed me back. I asked what I needed for their class and if there was anything I could do to be ready beforehand. Since I was flying in I was limited in how much I could bring. I took Judy Woodworth's whole cloth class and I took way too many muslins. I thought I'd have plenty of time to mark three of four. I didn't even get one completed!

Anyway, as a result of my emailing those ladies, I saved Shirley Stutz's class--she thought she sent her class list to IMQA to distribute, and IMQA didn't have it, or forgot to send it. Shirley much appreciated my heads up and everyone got their list in time.

It was just an extra effort to make the event go smoothly. After spending megabucks, I wanted to be prepared.

Those teachers/quilters are all a marvelous faculty!

You're going to have a time of your life you'll always remember!

DON'T FORGET TO POST PICTURES FOR THOSE OF US WHO DON'T GET TO GO! PLEASE!

The auction was the highlight of my trip. What a hootnahalf it was!! I was non stop ROFLMAO I can't wait to attend this year's auction. :P

And adding to the list, don't forget the battery charger for your camera, and an extra memory card cuz you're gonna take a ton of photos. :) And, bring a sweater or something to wear in the air conditioned rooms as these rooms can be a little chilly at times, especially sitting idle for several hours during a demo class. Comfy shoes, comfy clothes, and be prepared to have a VBG on your face the entire time. IMQA puts on a class act wonderful event and so well organized. It's eye candy and non-stop continuous sensation overload in every way.

Hello to everyone,

I am getting so excited to meet all of you. On your way to the APQS Chat table, stop by the volunteer desk and say hi. Even if you aren't volunteering.

Linda, thanks for the reminder about the perfumes, colognes. Some of us are allergic.

All of the good advice has been offered... wear comfy shoes, don't stress, and ENJOY!! And take your camera.

If you decide you have some free time and want to volunteer, stop by the vol. desk. I have several places I still need help, even just for an hour. And if you "enjoy" organizing and filing paperwork, I will put you to work at the desk with me. (Organization is not my strong suit.. ask Boni.) :o

Enjoy, and if you have questions, don't hesitate to ask. We want to do our best to make sure you have an AWESOME time at MQS!!

I am leaving here early Friday am, so if you need to contact me after that, call my cell.

See you in a few days!!!!

Hi ladies,

I too will be joining the newbie group at MQS arriving on Tuesday. Looking forward to meeting a bunch of you. I took Shana's advice and volunteered to help Jackie because I am not taking any classes , so I think she has plans to keep me busy. I'm looking forward to learning about this show from behind the scenes. I'm also staying at the Sheraton, so when I'm too tired to walk, or too much to carry - my room will be close at hand.:P

Goodness Jackie, you had that volunteer booth so organized! What do you mean? I remember helping you clean up towards the end and I was amazed at how you snapped everything into shape and ready for the next show!

Have a great time, and don't stress! I hope it's cooler this year for you. But NO rain!

I'll miss you, but maybe next year! I can hardly wait to hear what the new theme will be. Got any clues?

Boni,

Yes, I have a clue. It will be announced at the Banquet on Friday I believe. ;)

Thanks girlfriend. You made me sound like a drill sergent (?). I didn't want anyone to know that part about me!!!

Will miss you but plan on seeing you next year.

Shana, yes, even if you don't PLAN on buying, come to the auction. It was a hootnahalf!! I bought one of Val Hills pieces last year and it hangs on my design wall. What an inspiration. Some day I'm gonna do work like she does. Whose piece do I get to take home this year?? Shhhh.... don't tell my husband I'm spending his hard earned money on someone else's work!!

See all of you in a few days.

The good news...it should be cooler this year...didn't we have it in June last year? Anyway...it is 70 degrees...the bad news...man, it won't quilt raining. We get a day off, then another with rain. We can't get our garden planted because it is way too wet - just a mud hole.

Thanks for the advice on what to bring. I never wear perfume, so that is not a problem. The tote bag was a great idea to haul all of the other stuff that was suggested. I'll see if I can't scare one up somewhere. I did look at the class catalogue and since I'm taking a lot of lecture and demo classes, that helps to limit what I need to bring. Starting to get really excited!!

You should receive a bag with info, etc when you check in at the IMQA booth.

So that bag will get you thru! (with the exception of shopping...if your going to go on a huge shopping binge, that is..). But, it is large enough to hold your class supplies, etc. and more.

Jackie L.

Shana and I do have Sat open, and if i'm done with all my shopping/vender looking, i'll stop by to lend you a hand!

Looking forward to seeing you ALL there!

MB..i'll be waiting for my hug! Miss ya! (now that your back to WORK work) LOL! I went to KC last month with hubby, but just stayed at the Casino while he was at meetings. Sat the whole time wishing I was with you instead! LOL!

Bring that updated pic of Hailey!!!!!!

WOW, 1 week till Shana and I arrive. I'm down to counting hours now I think... LOL!
