AnnHenry
Do I dare use a metallic plus King Tut in the top with Bottom Line in bobbin at the same time? Both require such different tensions . . . Do I just experiment? Thanks for advice!
Quilting Heidi
I hereby give you permission to experiment...be sure to report your findings! I would say that you would have to use a large needle, 5.0 I would imagine.
njquiltergirl
Hi. I have used the metallic by Superior and had no problem on top. I used So Fine in the bobbin. I think KT with the metallic would be a bit thick on top...but try it, you might like it! How about something a bit thinner like SF or BL with the metallic? Just a thought! Good luck. Stagecl
If you are using both threads would it be better to have the metallic and king tut in the bobbin case for bobbin work? Because with the heaviest of threads they need to go into the bobbin. You need to quilt with the back right side up. I don't even know if you could wind metallic on a bobbin let alone combined it with another thread. Like Heidi said the only way is to experiment and let us know! hollyc
I'm thinking...could you thread one or the other through the thread path differently to give different tension? ie. 1 hole for the metallic and 3 holes for the king tut?
sspingler
I've used 2 Sulky's at one time! That's about as far as I've ever experimented.

Georgene
I've used two thread together too, but they were the same thread. I think I recall that Dawn said we could use as many as 3 at a time, but they have to fit in the needle, of course.
AnnHenry
Originally posted by quiltmonkey Go for it, woman! O.K., Shana, I am woman! I went for it! And I didn't have much trouble getting the tension set thanks to hollyc's advice about using the three holes. However, the end result was that the KT overpowered the metallic which hardly showed at all, and so the whole idea was a flop. I'm so disappointed. It seemed like such a good idea! I think that what I was really trying to do was to "thickerize" the metallic and it didn't work!
