MarieBrewer
I just broke a needle in the middle of a quilt and now the black piece that holds the bobbin in place turns in continuous circles. The lady wants the quilt tomorrow-Do pigs fly? How screwed am I here? It's not an option to drive to Iowa tonight with the machine. Can anyone help me? Thanks-Marie
John Mitchell
Hi: It appears that the finger (black piece of metal that goes in the slot in the front of the bobbin case). If the bobbin case is not held in the correct position the needle will hit. Here is how to fix this issue. In the front of the machine in the hook assembly area you will find a Phillips screw (holds the finger in place) If you will loosen this screw, rotate the bobbin basket until the notch lines up with the finger, move (slide) the finger into this slot about 1/3 way, tighten the screw, this will keep the bobbin case from spinning. Now turn the machine over by hand and make sure nothing hits. You are now good to go. Be sure to replace the needle with a new one as the old one may be damaged. Also this adjustment is addressed in your instruction book. John
MarieBrewer
Thanks John. I was able to figure out the problem by going back over some posts on the chat line regarding bobbins. Always good to learn some more about the machine-it was a late night tho but I did get the quilt done.
