Grandma03
Hi! I am a new member and I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice regarding free motion quilting. My stiches appear to be evenly spaced, however the thread keeps breaking off at the needle. I adjusted my tension and that messed up my stiches! Help! I would appreciate any thoughts on this subject!
Myrna Ficken
What type of thread are you using. Make sure you are not rolling your quilt too tight. That is on of the things that will cause thread breakage. Myrna
qfairy
You might want to check your needle to see if it doesn't haver a burr on it with your fingernail. Also you might want to watch to see how fast you run your machine. I found when I'm in a hurry I tend to try to run my machine to fast and find that my thread breaks alot. Hope you find out what is causing it.
quiltaholi_518
You don't say which machine you have. When I was new with my longarm, I just didn't have the hang of the tensions, and had lots of problems. Just when I think I have it perfect, I run into a problem or two. They just aren't as bad, or I have better tools for fixing them.
sspingler
Make sure your quilt isn't on too tight, your thread is on properly, the hopping foot is in the correct position......if all else fails, I turn my needle SLIGHTLY to the right and so I haven't had any more problems.
