DoryJM Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 With the pouring of the concrete, my yurt grew! I was concerned because it had been looking small; now it looks bigger. Maybe I will let Dennis have a corner...a really tiny corner;)
LinneaMarie Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 Looks AWESOME!!! You are getting there!! Hope the rest of it goes fast for you so you can "move" in!!:P
peglu Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 How exciting! Can't wait to see the final result. You are so lucky!
dbz98236 Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 Kind of hard to have a corner in a round building. lol. How big is the circle?
DoryJM Posted October 2, 2009 Author Report Posted October 2, 2009 And while we were pouring, the ponies were taking advantage of the early morning sun...
DoryJM Posted October 2, 2009 Author Report Posted October 2, 2009 The circle is 24', so we have 450 sq.ft of space. The pipes coming up are where the bathroom and outside that will be a "kitchen" counter (must be able to have coffee/tea while quilting).
delld Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 Wow what a great day for You. I remembr when they poured my floor. You'll be smiling in your sleep tonight and for nights and days to come!!!!
AbigailE Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 Does a Yurt have windows? Will you get to gaze at the amazing view while your quilting these delights? What great exciting fun.
DoryJM Posted October 2, 2009 Author Report Posted October 2, 2009 Yep, it has big windows...5 of them and the door is glass on top. I think we have it positioned so that I can look out at the meadow while working on my LA. We'll see....*literally*
dnice Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 You are such a lucky lady. I'll be waiting to see finished photos.
IBQLTN2 Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 yeah, Dory It wont be long now!!! How exciting.

ffq-lar Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 A poem for Dory's new studio-- Dear Dory wanted a yurt. So they dug a round hole in the dirt The ponies said "Cool, yeah, she ain't no fool! Keep out and no one gets hurt"! Congrats and can't wait to see it finished!

kennan100 Posted October 3, 2009 Report Posted October 3, 2009 WooHoo Dory! Did you sleep last night? This has to cure for 30 days, right? That's going to be a rough 30 days!
Gator Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 Can't wait until the yurt is up. I saw a yurt for the first time Saturday at a local campground, they are really cute!!!
DoryJM Posted October 13, 2009 Author Report Posted October 13, 2009 After several Laurel and Hardy moments, we finished the top yesterday. Today its pouring, but things should be dry enough by the weekend to put the walls on:)
JustSewSimple Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 I am always surprised at how small a building looks when it only has its foundation. When those walls go up it gains a whole new ADD-itude!
IBQLTN2 Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 wow, how exciting is that. Cant wait to see it all done.
ramona-quilter Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 Dory - what a wonderful place for a studio. I don't know how much work I would get done with all that beautiful scenery outside my window. What a view. Bathroom and kitchen, too- you thought of everything.
Linda G. Craig Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 Congratulations, Dory! Looking good! I'm soooo excited for you.
