lwaite17
Have pokies on the back and ripped out, leaving holes. Any suggestions? Using So Fine in the bobbin, but think I should use heaver thread.
IBQLTN2
the holes usually come out once it is washed. Batiks are so hard to sew without pokies, most have suggested using the smaller needle, 3.5 I think.
yankiequilter
I have a quilt on the frame right now that is batik with batik backing. I've had to rip some stitches out a number of times. Each time that I rip I spray with a little water and use a new soft toothbrush and brush the area lightly and the holes have closed up. I'm using Bottom Line in the bobbin and used Rainbows in one area and am using So Fine in another. So far all holes in both areas have closed up. The needle is 3.5 and batting is Hobbs poly, and I've relaxed the quilt when I've sprayed and brushed. I put in a new needle half way through the quilting, but am not done yet so may use another new needle, just to keep things humming along. The pokies you are getting may be a result of putting the batting on wrong side up.
Quilting Heidi
I've never had pokies with batik. I use a 3.5. The holes usually close up after a good wash. I've only had them stay once. What kind of batting are you using? make sure you don't have it upside down.
