NQR Veterans Day

Connie and all other Veterans out there - THANK YOU!!!!!!

I have to tell you a story that I know you will appreciate. Yesterday I had an all day meeting and it was 12 hours :(:(:(. Any who at the meeting we had to introduce ourselves to our Advisory Board as we had lots of new members. I told them that this was my 2nd career and that my first was being a Marine wife and mother. They all chuckled. Its true though and it was my favorite career! Anyway at the end of the night one of the new board members came up to me and we were chatting and he asked me about being a military wife. I said it was tough but I wouldn't change a thing. Hubby served 22 years and we were married 20 1/2 years of that. He then looked at me with almost tears in his eyes and said, "Tell your husband thank you for his service." Wow that just meant the world to me and to hubby!

Thankyou too Connie and all of you out there who have served to us! (My hubby included - 23 years in the CG). One of the most emotional things I have seen regarding a veteran recently was one day when we were up in DC visiting the new Veteran's Memorial. A rather aged man in a wheelchair was wheeled into the center of the memorial area but what appeared to be his son...it was obviously something that this veteran had wanted to do for a long time, you could tell because he was just looking around and drinking in everything. I noticed that one by one people started comming up to him and thanking him for his service, it was such a cool thing to see. It still brings tears to my eyes when I remember it...

Anyway, also want to remember those at Ft. Hood today...

Thank you to all of our current and former U S Military and to your families. And to Christopher Wiederhold, mental Health Specialist, 82nd Airborne, who is currently following a military tradition in our family that stretches to the American Revolution, and probably before. Thank you, we honor you, we love and treasure you, and we pray for you without ceasing!

Yes, Thank you to all the veterans that have served and are still serving in our behalf to keep us safe and protected. Today is a day when we formally recognize what you have done and are doing, but there are lots of us out here who think of you daily for the sacrafice that you all make in serving our country. May God bless you and keep you in His care.

Thank you to all veterans and those that have continually supported our veterans - wives, parents, children, in-laws, friends, etc. - without all of you, we would not be the nation and people we are today. I am sorry to say that I am like many who forget to celebrate your noble actions on a daily basis, but I my appreciation runs deep. Thank you.
