What to charge for adding borders

Recommended Posts

Agreed to add borders to a quilt top a customer purchased. It is a Batik quilt. How do I charge for this service in a fair way. I don't mind doing this at all but wasn't sure on the charge.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

He's doing fine. Thank you for asking. So thoughtful.

I had a great time at IMQS. I found out I still have a great deal to learn but all in all I had great fun.

All the ladies and gents I met were just super.

I was pooped by the time I got home. lol

I hope to see you again this year in Houston.

Happy Quilting

Hi Grammie---

When a customer has me piece the backer, I charge $10 per seam.

Sooo- four seams could be $40--except this doesn't take into account your "figuring" time--measuring, cutting, and calculating.

Let us know what price you decided on.

You never know where your future customers come from. I left a business card at Joann's way over a year ago and never had a bite. Then a woman called them looking for someone to bind for her. I charge $3 a foot to do a full binding job--that's cutting and joining the strips, machine stitching to the front and hand-stitching to the back. She dropped off three full-sized tied quilts to bind. She doesn't have a DSM and doesn't want one (!!!!!) Hard to believe! She does the quilts for charity and was happy to find me. And I was happy she did too!

Happy stitching!
