Grammie
Agreed to add borders to a quilt top a customer purchased. It is a Batik quilt. How do I charge for this service in a fair way. I don't mind doing this at all but wasn't sure on the charge. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
CherylUribe
Is she providing the material? I would charge at LEAST $25 per hour. Plus material. It was great seeing you at MQS! You are doing so great! How is Dad?

ffq-lar
Hi Grammie--- When a customer has me piece the backer, I charge $10 per seam. Sooo- four seams could be $40--except this doesn't take into account your "figuring" time--measuring, cutting, and calculating. Let us know what price you decided on. You never know where your future customers come from. I left a business card at Joann's way over a year ago and never had a bite. Then a woman called them looking for someone to bind for her. I charge $3 a foot to do a full binding job--that's cutting and joining the strips, machine stitching to the front and hand-stitching to the back. She dropped off three full-sized tied quilts to bind. She doesn't have a DSM and doesn't want one (!!!!!) Hard to believe! She does the quilts for charity and was happy to find me. And I was happy she did too! Happy stitching! Linda R Olympia, Wa
