JudyL
I pretty much know how I'm going to quilt this but how would you do it? The outer blue border is 9 inches but I can make it smaller. The whole quilt is something like 87 x 98. I can't get the picture to load, so here's a couple of links that will get you to it: http://www.sunshinequilts.com/ModaChallenge.html or http://community.webshots.com/photo/48632180/164863617dtXJGP
LynnQuilts
Judy, I've been pondering your quilt, and here are some of my ideas. I would of course SID around all the stars & borders in the inner part of the quilt. Then I would stipple tightly around the magnificent star in the center, then maybe loosely around the variable stars. I would put a nice feather design in the setting triangles, with a feather vine in the border. SID around the narrow beige borders, then in the checkerboard border, I thought about diagonal crosshatching across the squares, or maybe wavy lines diagonally across the squares--maybe that would look better. I don't know; those are my ideas. Let us know what you are actually going to do!
Guest Linda S
Okay - we all know I'm new and have no idea what I'm talking about, but I thought I'd give it a go. I would SID the Star blocks and the center medallion star (gorgeous, by the way), using some sort of fill like stippling or McT in the spaces outside the points. In the triangles, I agree I'd use a triangular feather motif. Not too sure what I'd put in the sashing (maybe something that looks like rope?), but I think I might "color outside the lines" in the checkerboard border and do a loop and star design all the way around. In the outer blue border, I'd do some fancy feathers. Okay, when you're done giggling, let me know how silly that sounds! Linda
JudyL
As soon as I finish this panto, I'm going to load the Moda challenge. I'm thinking I'll SID around the points in the center, microstipple the background there. Then outline the star patches in the center of the big stars, some kind of fill in in the background. I think I'll SID all the little squares in the border and continue with the lines into the narrow borders above and below the pieced squares. In the sashing between the blocks, I think I'll do a fairly large cross-hatching . . kinda star point to start point. Here's what I'm thinking of doing in the outer blue border: http://community.webshots.com/photo/144259534/166086510BTzRGo What do you think?
