Needles--How to Change

Recommended Posts

Since industrial needles don't have a flat spot on the shank like domestic machine needles, getting the needle positioned correctly can be a bit tricky. Watch this video for a slick trick to getting your needle aligned.

Hi Bev,

The advantage to tweaking the needle eye slightly to the left comes into play when a person might have stitches that appear slightly twisted, or seem to be slightly "zig-zagged". When you turn the eye that direction, it opens up the back of the needle (the scarf) a bit more so that the hook point can catch the complete top thread loop behind the needle to prevent shredding or breaking. Hope that helps!
