How do you know what to quilt?

When you don't want the design to overpower the quilt but you want the texture..use varigated thread with similiar colors. This way the quilting just melts into the quilt and doesn't overpower..I use varigated thread almost exclusively with the the exception of a solid color where I want an exact match. My customers love the varigated thread. I love Superior King Tut and Rainbows but the Rainbows are a bit fragile but the KT almost never breaks.
