Alice
I have a customer who gives me quilts that are not pre-washed and then requests specific designs that either have come with the kit or that she found. But I find it difficult to do these designs without marking the quilt somehow. The latest is an Amish-style quilt with 9-patches in solid colors & black alternated with solid black squares. She wants a specific continuous line design on the solid black squares. What should I use to mark that won't be permanent and that will stay put until I've quilted it. Chalk seems to disappear before I get the whole design quilted. And then some chalk doesn't want to "go away." Suggestions? I need to get to this quilt next week. SherryRogers
Hi Alice Get yourself a few of the Clover white marking pens, they are wonderful for dark fabrics. They first appear invisible but turn a bright white right away. The marks go away with steam. You should be able to get them at your local quilt store. Don't bother with any other brand! Bonnie
Alice, I just discovered this wonderful pen about 3 weeks ago....I know I'm slow so I don't know how long they have been out, but man were they an answer to my prayers. Don't look at the cost, you will hold your breath if you do, just buy it and enjoy yourself. I promise you, you won't regret it. Like Sherry said, don't buy any other brand...this is the total answer.
Alice
Sherry & Bonnie - thanks. I tried the Clover marking pen on a scrap of black, steamed it and it disappeared! The chalk marks and the soap stone marks I made did not. Alice
