appr216
This quilt top was done for my step son who was paralized in an car accident. How would you quilt it? I was thinking piano keys on the borders but the middle of the quilt has lots and lots of seams! I am still doing fairly simple quilting so please be gentle! Thanks, Judi

LinneaMarie
ho boy! Looks like a job for Circle Lord Swirls. If you don't have that some circles to take the edge off the squareish-ness. Very nice, manly quilt!!! I like it. I can see it in batiks, too!!
appr216
LinneaMarie, thanks for your comments. He loves black and white so that's what he is getting. I thought about circles. I have the HF.
cblevins
I love the quilt and I am not usually big on black and white ones. They usually look cold to me but this one doesn't.
Myrna Ficken
Concentric circles would be perfect on it with a piano key border and good practice.
Quilting Heidi
circles or swirls would be perfect. He will love the quilt!
witha'K'quilting
I agree with Myrna. Concentric circles made with the HF would look fabulous!
Mary Beth
Yep, CL Swirls was my first thought...but circles work too.
bobbi
I agree with the circles... AND Myrna! Great new pic!
Katydids
I agree circles would look good and great practice with your HF as Myrna said. One more suggestion is a panto called square spiral. I believe it is a golden threads pattern. It is very easy to do and when done it has a roundness to it and gives you the illusion of circles. It is hard to describe. I'll have to see if I can find a picture of it.
LinneaMarie
Here it is! That wold look cool too!! http://www.goldenthreads.com/p-1453-square-spiral-6-wide-pantograph-by-keryn-emmerson.aspx
Bonnie
Only thing I would suggest is the choice of thread. I think I would be using a varigated black/grey/white. Superior has one as well as YLI.
meg_marsh
agree with Bonnie on the thread - I have the one she is talking about and love it!!!! - I also see concentric circles.... bigger one in the striped blocks and smaller ones in the triangle blocks or concentric circles in the striped blocks and swirls in the triangle blocks.......... appr216
Thanks everyone for all the suggestions. I have Myrna's DVD on the HF (actually I think all of her DVD's-love them BTW) and I will be getting it out again and PPP before I attempt the quilting. Also like the panto. Decisions Decisions. I will post when I finish. My step son will be moving into his own place sometime this year so I have a little time. I just want to get it done and it look good for him. He is more like a son to me and he has really had a tough couple of years. Looks like more rough years ahead of him but he has a great attitude now and looking forward to moving into his own place. Will have to have help but all seems to be falling into place for him. Thanks again and don't tell anyone but I am taking this afternoon off of work and sewing! My daughter, cousin, and co-worker will be making/sewing something, don't know yet but don't really care. Just taking some time off to play works for me. anita
Sounds like everyone pretty much agrees...I certainly do. I've done concentric circles for quilts like this and love the affect. I also agree on Myrna's new picture...lovely! Anita
