Guest The Quilting Diva
I'll be stitching along when all of a sudden, the top thread is up (like a hill) then I stitch fine, then a hill...this is like every 4-6 inches, and I have to unstitch everything, because I am using gold thread on black fabric! Help! Cynthia
LadyLake
When this happens to me, I tighten the top tension. Hope that helps you.
Guest The Quilting Diva
tighten it? the loops are on the top. I've adjust the bottom tension. I've put in a new needle I've rethreaded the machine. Ok, I think it's better...keeping my fingers crossed...
jmcclannan
Have you checked your encoder wheel for your SR?
mountainquilter
Cynthia, That used to happen to me until Dawn advised me to put a small piece of batting inside the first thread guide and let the thread just pass through on it. That solved the problem of a up thread every so often. Mountainquilter Diana
quiltmonkey
Sounds weird, I know but... like Joan said, your top tension is too loose. Yes, tighten the top knob. I tighten until I can see my bobbin thread barely peeking through the hole from the needle and then I back off the top tension 1/4 turn. works good. You will have good tension this way. bonbon
This thread is very timely for me! This has been happening on my quilts also. Thanks for posting today and to those who have "the fix".

I know it does sound weird, but if you are using a Metallic Gold thread you may need to listen to Shana...its a stiffer thread and yes it does needs to be loose, but sounds like you have gone to far and need to bring it back towards the tighter side of life.
