bonbon
I have a customer quilt-batik on top (dark colors) and cream color blanket for backing, no batting. The fuzz from the light color backing gets pulled up to the surface of the dark batik top. Any ideas how to fix this problem? I thought maybe a 3.5 needle may help. What do you think? I haven't used the smaller needle before. Has anyone had this same problem with blanket backing. I used blanket backing several times before but the blanket backing had usually been in the same value so it didn't show that much when the fuzz surfaced. Any suggestions would be nice. Thanks. ffq-lar
Hi Bonnie-- Is the backing an actual blanket? Or is it fleece or Minkee? If it's a blanket (probably fuzzy poly?) your customer may have to live with the results. The fact that there is no batting means a lot. If you get another, maybe a layer of bleached muslin in the center will make a difference. See you Saturday!
bonbon
It's an actual blanket. Yes, poly, Costco blanket. I'll suggest the muslin idea. See you saturday!
Quilting Heidi
Bonnie, My guess is that if you washed that blanket it would help wash out the extra fuzz. Not sure what will happen if you quilt it and then wash it.
kennan100
Try putting a little wad of batting in your first thread guide over the thread and put a few drops of Sew Easy silicone on the batting. That should lube your thread enough that it will slide through all the layers without grabbing onto the blanket adn pulling some through with the thread.
