newellyn Posted August 19, 2010 Author Report Share Posted August 19, 2010 Anyone bringing hubby, kids, grandkids: The Lewis and Clark Saltmakers are here this weekend, just three blocks south of our meeting. These are reenactors who are in costume and character of the L & C expedition members who came to Seaside from Fort Clatsop the find sea water not diluted by the Columbia River so they could boil it to make salt to cure their meat for the trip back east. The actual historical site of their work is just 1/2 block from us. The reenactment is really nice and very educational too. They are here for one weekend every year, and this is it!!
