ffq-lar
Welcome Donna! Replace the grease when it starts to growl--you'll know exactly what it is when/if it happens. Only repack when necessary--it requires taking the machine head off the table. If you ever send it in for service, have them check if the grease needs replacing. An air pocket in the grease will cause the gears to growl, but it won't hurt to still use the machine while you wait for a supply of grease from Iowa. yankiequilter
Welcome, Donna! I think if you call APQS service they could tell you the last time the machine was in for service. Each machine has a serial number and they should be able to determine from that info.
Gator
If you're hearing weird sounds, call APQS. Amy can usually tell you what's wrong by listening to the machine over the phone. I think most of the company folks will be at the Houston market/show next week.
Resilient Quilter
how long does it take to have your machine serviced in DesMoines? Are they open Christmas / New Years week?
Kueser
I image it will be a short week for them. If you're thinking of waiting while it is is serviced, call and get any details. I don't think they can take drop and wait. It is more than a lub job, oil change, and tire rotation and takes a while to clean and put everything back together like new. Neher-in-law5
When I took George in a year ago, it was by appointment, but I was able to drop him off, and pick in up in a couple hours. Of course that was for motherboard replacement. There are a couple of fabric/quilt shops in the area to keep you busy while you wait!
yankiequilter
I believe they are open, however Dawn posted they are doing inventory. Just give them a call tomorrow and they can answer your questions. http://apqs.com/quiltboard/viewthread.php?tid=25314&page=1#pid317251
witha'K'quilting
I have owned my millie for over 2 years and finally repacked the grease. Should have done it a while back when it started growling, but waited until I made a table swap to remove the machine. I don't anticipate any future problems now.
